HELP!! Crankshaft Position sensor Problem
Hi everyone. Just finished swapping in a VLSD transmission, with a (new to me) used aluminum flywheel and new clutch. Upon test driving the car it starting "bucking" and felt like it was misfiring.
So I checked the codes and found the code P1336 for the crankshaft position sensor / (cog) So I erased the codes and started to diagnose. I ran a test I found on You-Tube for checking the wiring, and everything was good no faults in the wiring according to that test.
Next I removed the sensor and examined the timing ring on the flywheel and noticed it was pretty rusty but the magnet on the sensor was not chipped so I didn't think much of it. Next I installed a used but previously good crankshaft position sensor off of a parts car.
Then went for a drive. During the test drive the car seemed to run marginally better but was still definitely misfiring and the code was right back.
Not exactly sure where to go next other than trying to sand / wire brush the timing ring to clean it. Are there any tests to perform on the sensor itself? Like a resistance test? Was I supposed to install the flywheel in a certain orientation?
All help is appreciated. Thanks Mark.
