Tachometer
Tachometer
I seriously think I am just out of luck here, but I am going to exhaust every option before I give up. Of course my tachometer quit working. Bought a parts car, only to find out it was technically a 98 model so the clusters don't match up. I have been to 2 junk yards, tried 2 separate clusters. Same problem. The motor for the needle is always shot. I can't find a working after market replacement. Is there another option or is this the one thing that can't be fixed?
Does the car run normally? To verify the ECU is sending a signal to the cluster (or at all) you may want to get a Bluetooth OBD2 code reader and hook it up to your OBD2 port, connect it to your phone, and use a free app like Torque to see if it's getting an RPM reading. If the app doesn't get an RPM reading, you may have a bigger problem on your hands. You may also want to inspect the wires for the connectors on the back of the cluster for any breaks or damage. I find it hard to believe that you've got three bad clusters in a row.
Have you checked with a rebuilder? As far as I know from looking to do mine; you'd also have to get those extra clusters reprogramed to your Vin/security system. My cluster dies randomly and the tach jumps around like a Honda rev boy. If it helps here is who I'm using for mine when I can take my car off the road https://atlantaspeedometer.com/Home/...0/Default.aspx ball park estimate for me was like $275
A member here has a lower mileage 97 (somewhere around 115K) Maxima that was rear ended and he's parting out. Maybe he'll ship it to you> I've bought parts from him.

Hope this helps!
But I suspect 95\maxrider might be onto something UPSTREAM possibly.
