Maxima Fuel light

So I bought a 99 Maxima in great condition.. everything seems to work as of now. However I think it does not have a low fuel light. Any chance this car didn't come with a low fuel light? My 97 has a little circle where it comes on this 99 doesn't appear to have this little circle. I find it weird that Nissan didn't put them in all 4th gens. Or maybe it doesn't work? Did they move it to a different spot on the cluster like next to the seatbelt light?

No fuel light

How about, maybe just don’t run the car so low on fuel that the presence of the indicator won’t matter?

… and yes, the ‘99 includes a low fuel indicator.

My 1996 had a low fuel light. It worked when I bought the car, but stopped working a few years later.

The fuel pump is mounted in the gas tank.
it is cooled by the gasoline. Running a car with little gas in the tank could overheat the pump.

Please fill the tank when it's at least 1/4 full.

Hey, cool thanks for that. Yes you are correct I don't usually run it that empty but I just got the car and I was below 1/4 and I was curious if it had a low fuel light so i kept going a little further to see if it would turn on. So I did do it this one time to test the light out and I guess it doesnt work. No big deal I was just curious. And according to your diagram my ABS light doesn't work either.

If I remember correctly, if you just put the car in accessory mode, all the dash lights illuminate for a few seconds then go off. If you don't see the low fuel light come on then it doesn't work.

True, but my 97 I had it had the low fuel light in the fuel gauge like a small orange dot when it got low. I don't think that light illuminated in accessory mode.
