fixing a dent

i have a big dent on my trunk lod by the A in maxima. Can I just pound that out from the inside? how to do it? Should I use a hammer or a rubber malet?

Without some special tools I don't think you'll be able to get to the back of the panel. If you remove the trunk lid liner you'll see what I mean. There's not a lot of room to move around in there.
