Key fob stopped working, based on my diag what to try next?

My 1997 maxima key fob stopped working and I only have one. I replace the battery with a new one, checked the 3 relevant elec parts fuses under steering wheel, and tried the reprogramming procedure (which flashed the hazards the first time but not when it’s supposed to register the remote).

What else can I try? Module in trunk looks fine but is there a way to test it? Any way to see if remote is sending signal without going to the parts store?

You can buy a used one on eBay and program it just like you tried with the one that has died, or look for an aftermarket on Amazon and eBay and some online companies. Just make sure before buying that when you hold down the unlock button, it opens the front windows, just like the OEMs do. (and why a used OEM may be a better choice if in mint condition)

thanks. Only $20 shipped on ebay so worth a shot. I’ve replaced both my window motors over the years and strangely they were wired backwards so my window opening functionality was already gone.
