Wipers...

My wipers are useless at highway speeds. Anyone else have this issue. Also, they sweep up fine, but at highway speeds, the downsweep takes a little long, like the wind is pushing against it...
Is there a fix?

Yep. RainX. Little yellow bottle available about anywhere. You won't even need your wipers.

What about snow? Would it work, when driving in snow? We get that in the Great White North sometimes.

The snow wont slide of like water, but it won't stick either, plus rain-x makes the windshield sliprier and that in turn allows the wipers to go up and down easier.

hope this is helpful.

Here's a ghetto solution. It works for a week or so before the moisturizer fades away lol I use Dove soap. I believe Dove body wash will work better I use it whenever I'm washing my car and it helps to smooth out the window so the wipers go faster and the water slides off in a sheet. Just soap it

That might be a ghetto solution, but i think that rain-x is still cheaper than a bottle of dove bodywash.

I'm a try Dove the next time i wash my car.

I had the same problems with my wipers. I changed them to the MTEC Jap wipers on Ebay. They are heavier and nicer and took 10 mins to change. If you want, I can post a pic of them.

Here is a pic. It looks real bad because the org has a KB limit. I also included a link to the wipers on ebay for a closer look.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...803253&r=0&t=0

They are selling at $29.00

I've heard somewhere that RainX could cause problems with reflections from other car's headlights when night driving.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Thanks everyone for your help, I think I may take both suggestions, and change the wipers and add some RainX/Bodywash!

I have used RainX for about a year now and haven't noticed any problems with reflections, just excellent water shear and visibility. Are you talking about a reflection from inside looking out, or a reflection on our windshield affecting other drivers? I dont understand.
RainX is like a solvent type liquid, kinda smells like rubbing alcohol. It goes on, dries, then gets buffed off. Water beads and rolls off instantly. Great stuff!!

I think I read something (seems like in Consumer's Reports) about it causing reflections that were distracting to the driver of the car as he/she was looking out of the windshield at night due to the Rainx on the windshield.

Don't remember all of the details and so I thought I would ask if anyone had noticed this condition.

Erik, I've seen those blades on Ebay for a while and they look pretty nice. Have you checked if the regular wiper inserts from the auto parts store will work for those blades? $30+ is a bit expensive if the inserts can't be replaced.

Don't those wipers have a "wind deflector" thingamajic on them to push the blades down onto the glass to help wipe at highway speeds?
I noticed the metal flap on the bottom, I'm guessing the windflow provides a downward force against the wiper frame to prevent the wiper from 'floating' off the glass surface.
