ok my friend being cocky was talking about how the mustang is one of the best cars ever made and i said his car was gay and asked him if he wanted to race.
so sunday we are going out to an abandoned air feild to race
hes got a 98 mustang 5 sp stock
ive got a 96 auto with Stillen intake and muffler


can i win this one

what were the steps agian take over drive off and turn a/c?
anything else
should i break to 2500 rpm
any tips are much apreaciated

either way it goes he still has a gay car

 

also does any one know the stock horse power on the 98's?

160 hp stock if its a non GT and those arent that fast at all!

 

If it's a stock 6 you'll beat his @$$...although if its a GT he'll beat you.

 

You better freaking win! Those mustangs are almost Civic slow! If you need some pointers, here's what I do.

Line-up:
A/C Off, O/D Off, Shift to 1st.

Flagger Raises his arms:
Brake-Torque to 1800

Flagger drops his arms:
Release Break, Nail the Gas.

Shiftpoints:
1st to 2nd: 6100 RPMs
2nd to 3rd: 6300 RPMs

If he's really pushing 260 HP he's got a modified GT. In that case you will lose. You could probably beat him with NOS though.

what the hell?! before i came in this board, i was 110% certain that mustangs, V6 Vtech honda's, all these cars would smoke me any day of the week but u guys make it sound like maxima's are like really fast...maybe u guys are talking about it after modification...i really can't see a stock maxima beat a stock mustang...i hear it all the time but my friends put this stupid notion in my head that maxima's are fast but NOT THAT FAST....so do i have a chance against a 99 2 door honda accord v6 vtech? my friend has one...not sure if it's vtech but i'm positive it's a 99 and 2 door and v6

 

If he's pushing 260hp that's a modded V8. And its a 5spd so its 1/4 mile will be low 14s and you high 15s. Even with the nitrous shot (I am assuming you will go a 50-shot), it will be very difficult to keep up with him. Best would be to pull out and confess you didn't know how fast his car really is. Or lose miserably.

You need a smackin'! V6 Mustangs are slow boats, And I could keep up pretty well with the V8s while Stock, and w/ Nitrous, I hand em their ***! Accord V6 was tough for me, but I took my freind in an '01 V6 Sedan by about a carlength. You ABSOLUTELY Have a BIG CHANCE Against that Accord V6. Seriously, Smack your friends.

And by the way:
VTEC: An efficient Valve control technology created by Honda.
Vtech: A company that makes cheap phones.

And also, I thought V-6 Stangs were the 5spds, and the GTs were 6-spds?

But you're still going to lose. If its a GT 5spd you are dead (unless you are boosted). It runs to 60 MpH in 6.6 seconds and completes a 1/4 mile in 15.1. Good competition for a 5spd but chances are an auto will lose unless the Mustang driver is a horrible shifter. Not to mention the Rustang has tons-o-torque so if its a highways race you will lose there too. Sorry

Actually no, Ive raced just about every mustang out there, almost every year make and model and I have NEVER been in back of one. I have a GSR which is almost the exact same speed as a maxima, and I blow by mustangs faster than my moms volvo!!!! Theres no way in hell a 98 gt runs 0-60 in under 7 secs or 1/4 in under 15. Id be willing to put my pink slip on that..I **** you not!!!

Yep, would be a good race for a 5spd Maxima , but if he can drive, then you will be in trouble.
