Good to hear. I've been wondering what your car's going to do the 1/4 in with that thing on! Can't wait to find out. Good luck!
Unfortunately, the schedule on Pacificraceways.com is wrong, and there are no drags today!

There was about 10 people down there ****ed off because of it.

So I won't be able to do the 1/4 mile until this coming Friday.

I'll scan them, of course.

But it'll have to wait until Friday.

The problem is my speaker box, which is VERY securely bolted to my back seat and very heavy. It would take me all afternoon to remove it.

That and the fact that my Dyno shows my car is slower than it should be for some reason, tells me my times will probably suck.

But the difference between VI on and VI off should be interesting.

Really, I kind of disagree with this statement. I find the 4th gen pulls pretty good til about 140. BTW I have a CAI and a 97 se auto with no VI

Well this is interesting... no money for this mod, though. Maybe summer... (2nd group deal in July/August is what you said?)

Or maybe a gen5 VQ30DE swap would be more cost-effective. Hmm...

Try and find one. They are hard to get. I looked for a little while, the cost $500+, and that is just for the manifold... BUT they "should" fit.

Good luck. Keep us posted

Actually, I DID test it at 120+ on a deserted tunnel in Seattle
(I-90), where theres no shoulder for cops to hide on, with no traffic.

It pulls one hell of alot harder to me. But then again, that's only the 3rd time I've done that ever. I try to be good.

Well, my VQ pulls faster b/c it's a 5 speed
Despite that, what you may be feeling is the different gearing. From 80 mph, I can use 3rd to 95 mph, 4th to 115-120 and then wind out in 5th. I reach 140, but accelereation from 130 to 140 is not the way it was from 80 to 120. I will reach 140 before you becuase you have to s t r e t c h 3rd gear all the way from 80 to 120 in your car and then switch to 4th to wind out. With that kind of gearing, the weakness of the VQ, loss of TQ above 5500, is probably masked soemwhat in the auto.

With the VI in a 5 speed, it prbably continue like gang busters all the way to 140 and beyond.

Yeah, the Online Schedule for Pacific Raceways was wrong. I drove all the way out there to find out that the track was closed.

Trying again this Friday.

But the GD is closing tomorrow. So if you people want in, send me an E-Mail PRONTO!

I have also decided this will probably be the only GD I ever do. This is just too much hassle for me with no real return, except helping people out on the .org, which was my intention in the first place.

Really appreciate what you have done. Also I do understand it being a hassel for you and all. But if this does indeed turn out to be your first and only group deal. Can you atleast post up where you made your orders from and what all was needed, for us folks that don't have the cash at this moment.

Thanks.

Come on Ian, one more this summer. That gives those who only work durring the summer a chance to get $$, our tax returns are back, us sceptical people get to see even more dynos, we get to watch reliability, etc., etc., etc. Either way, thanks for everything.

Your correct in saying your 5-speed will out accelerate my auto, however look again, 3rd will pull me to 130 MPH and then when I shift into 4th I am once again in my powerband.

Refer to this post for a pic/video of my all gear dyno pull http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....readid=117592\

The Auto will actually have more TOP SPEED than your 5 speed. I think neither of the 2 will pass 160 MPH on a road with out either NOS/SC/TURBO.

If you have ever done an all gear pull on a dyno, the power of the 4th gen VQ (auto or 5 SD) falls just like you said.

I am looking at this mod for more power at the end of each gear , THUS more power at the begining of the next gear which equals a faster car. With a larger power band.

BTW my auto let's me talk on the cell phone and drink mello yellow in rush hour

Oh and to keep this on topic thanks IanS

It really all depends on interest and how well this GD goes.

I don't forsee any problems at all, but the guy in the ME is a pain to deal with because of the language barrier.

And if something does go wrong, I expect everyone will want a piece of me for things I have no control over. That would suck. I mean, what if the Cargo plane crashes? There's a small bit of risk in any venture.

In addition, I have this gut feeling he may have quoted me shipping wrong, (shipping per piece seems a little low ($110)) and I may have to raise the prices on the next GD, and may lose money on this one.

At least everything he sent me was in original Nissan boxes and all the invoices were on his company letterhead, so I know he's honest.
And of course, I know I'm honest.

So let's just see how much of a hassle this is for me.

Well, I will be running mine for a while until I don't find anybody interested in the piece anymore, and it isn't a group deal it is just an individual thing. So, once you get the money you can send it to me and I can order the parts for you. $500 shipped to your door, just for your info.

I'm getting mine from Japan. Got my VI in Sunday will be doing the install on thursday...and then running the dyno on Friday or Saturday. $500 for it shipped to your house but if you want the cover it will most likely be $45-50 dollars more...still waiting on the exact price on that. Will set up a GD to have the pricing differences, that will have all the info hopefully in the next 2-3 days, just waiting for my response from my supplier.

Cover to go over the VI

Just to make the Engine bay look cleaner. Hype had a survey that had the picture of it. This a link to that post.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....2&goto=newpost

This that is what would cost an extra 45-50 dollars or so.

Mr Cranman should have his own thread on the subject with all of his information. Please look around for it....I forget what it's called.
