Well when you remove the factory air box, in the rear of it closest to the MAF there was a little sensor that was plugged into it. Just move that sensor location to the front of the filter where the whole is already set, and plug it in.

mine is 98 and like yours i dont believe we need to do any replacing of sensors, the older max needed to attach that sensor to the filter or something like that

I dont know about your maximas but there was a maxima ive seen with the stillen intake and it was a 97-99 and he had the insert hole in the front, but he did not place the sensor inside because "it blocked air going into the hole"

95-96 Maxima's had Air Tempature Sensors on the airbox.. You proabaly have a stillen intake for a 95-96...

since u have a 99 u dont need the sensor--- just tape up the whole and u will be all good

dont leave the whole at the end unplugged or unfiltered air will go into ur maf

I have a 99 and I managed to track down the sensor you guys are talking about I think. It is the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor I believe, which I removed from the stock setup and plugged into the end of my Stillen pop charger, as stated in instructions. The sensor in its stock location I believe was in one of the plastic tubes down to the engine side of the stock airbox, plugged in to the firewall side. I had a 97 and it had the sensor present also. I would think they all have them, but I cannot say for sure. My Haynes manual covers the whole 4th gen and doesn't note it being optional on some years/models.

Oh yeah, and if you do manage to find the sensor, be sure to take the rubber grommet it sits in on the factory tube. You will need it to plug into the Stillen unit.

ah yes ...i know what you speaketh of now....on the end of the scoop thingie....all i did was take out the attachment that was in the stock tubing, plugged it into the sensor, and let it hang there...then my car died, and i thought it was because of that (after changing fuel filter)....i had been driving around and it just died..so i put it back on

My 98 had the sensor towards the bottom of the stock airbox next to the MAF. I just had to pull it out and it plugged right into my pr cai.

I have a 97 and had the ambient air temp sensor plugged into the top of the stillen intake. BUT BOY WAS I ripped when i got the PR hybrid setup and realized that the sensor now had to plug into the pipe. Was a ***** to find a cork to put in the end of the intake, but it works great now
