215/55/16 or 225/50/16

The latter will look better and yeild slightly better performance. However, your speed-o will be off something like 2%. The first is the stock size.

so in other words, I'm better off sticking w/ 215/55/16 if I see very little gains w/ 225/50/16?

215 55/16 - stock - not many choices in tires

225 55/16 - a little bigger - lots o' choices - speedo off by 2% or so.

225 50/16 - a little smaller - lots o' choices - speedo off by 2% or so.

Any of those would be fine on stock rims.... Go to tirerack.com to do a search.

I heartily recommend the BFG g-force KDW's in 225/55/16. Awesome pure summer tire in wet and dry. Don't think about snow with these though!

i've had 215/55/16's, 225/50/16's and 225/55/16's... i think the 50s looked and drove better... except for the wheel gap. but the guy @ tire rack told me up to a 235/50 would fit ok. recomended tire... dunlop sp 8000 225/50/16... i had these on my toyota supra... best damn tire i've had... only bad thing i didn't get good wear... but i drove the %uck out of that car... lol.. thats why it no longer looks like a supra... eww.. bad night. anyway... happy shopping

I imagine a lower profile tire (50%) will be a bit lighter than the 55%. That will give you a slightly faster acceleration/deceleration.

Anyone know at what speed that 2% variation is at? Or is it speed dependant in the first place?
