how to install sidemarkers???

Is there anyplace i can get instructions on installing sidemarkers? I have a few questions.

Do i cut the whole to fit the whole sidemarker or j/ the bulb socket?
How do i keep the sidemarker in place?

Any help would be awesome, thanks!

you cut the whole to fit the bulb socket, to have it hold on to the car you need to screw it in the fender. There shuld be two holes you drill and there you go. Just make sure you have everything straights and you use some anti rust primer to cover up the whole.

Man, just get a shop to do it for you. It's much safer. At least thats what I'd do. The side markers are like $50 - $60 bucks installed...and you can be confident that it was done right.

Well, yeah. When it comes to putting holes in my fender...I'll rather have a shop do it and do it right then TRY it myself and screw up. Plus, you save money and you can always blame a screw up on them.

Spending $10 (cost of side markers) or $60 to have someone install it I'd did it for $10, feel good about another DIY project success and spent the $50 I saved on neons

Depending on what style you are looking for you can find a great selection on EBay like I did for my BMW sidemarkers (did the install myself too ) Anyway they were $18.00.

You got me all hyped up! I just saw a 740i with the same ones as you...and I thought to myself, "wow, they're really integrated and clean-looking."

thanks for the info Wizza. Any more pics + help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: actually....not pics, but more like instructions? yours looks really nice and blends well with the body molding strip. also, which ones were those on ebay?

thanx

hey wizza remember me? tj (broken bolt on y-pipe guy)

well anyways. i'm looking for new sidemarkers cause someone jacked one of mine. i was wondering about your bmw sidemarkers. was only the socket protruding from the back? if so all you did was drill a hole for the socket, right? how'd you attach it to your car then? let me know. thanks.

tj

Sorry to say for the sqeamish at heart I got these hoping they were like you described but I had to cut a rectangle in the fender and it locked right in place...the bulb and socket I had to get from PepBoys and modify to seal and fit.

I spent more time arguing with the wheel well liners than all the rest of the install.

I can send you guys some more scoop if you like. Wish I could take more pics but the camera is now in the garbage can.
