Pics of 95-99 with '00 16" SE wheels

Im also thinking about getting some stock '00 SE 16" wheels for my car. They are also 5 spoke like the 99 and lower but smoother in appearance.

Anyone have these on their car and can you provide me with a pic.

I did a search and came up with 775 topics about wheels.

I did notice that nYcEMaxima has them on his car but his homepage isnt working for more pics.......

Anyone?

personally I think the 97-99 wheels look a lot better then the 00 five spokes. Just not into the flared look of the spokes. I'm sure others will disagree, but it's just my opinion.

I agree the 97-99 Se wheel look alot better and have more substance and style to them. The 00-03 ones are a little plain looking that is why most guys looking for stock 5 spokes want the 97-99 ones in this forum.

I agree with everyone else. Why would you want the 5th gen 5 spokes? They are ugly.....maybe thats why they sell so cheap....

sorry about the homepage, i've abandoned it a while ago . I have them on my 98. I think they look pretty good, i had a choice of getting the 97-99 SE 16's and these and i went with these. I got a good deal on them plus i wanted the car to look different from the 97-99 SEs with stock 16s.. they are a nice simple design and very easy to clean.. look pretty good in my opinion... plus they can be had really cheap for a set of 4.

btw, that's a very nice Charger, I think I've seen your car on Amboy road a few times..

Hey NYCe thanks man. You live in SI?
We hang out at Chevy's Resturant on Hylan Blvd on Weds nights.......all cars are welcome

I have a chance to get those wheels (new dealer take offs) with new Dunlop Sport A2's shipped mounted & balanced to my door for $780.

Someone else turned me on to the Borbet Type E's also. They look really sweet.

If I were to get those I would get the 17x8's Tire Rack has em with Potenza RE950's for likw $1400 shipped. Like double the price

I just cant stand the 15" GLE wheels anymore. Im also looking for comfort in my ride. Not too harsh. Ive been told going up 2 sizes to 17" will give me a more harsh ride. That was also a factor in deciding 16" or 17"

Opinions

If you try to hold out you'l probably find a used set with minimal miles cheaper. Also you can even get the 17" for a low price.

I figured you must be around on Hylan plaza, I come by to check out the cars when I see that Staten Island car club thing meeting there..

Yeah, I have the Dunlop Sport A2s on mine as well.. They are awesome tires, such a difference in noise, they are silent on the freeway, you don't hear anything but wind noise.. really strange when i put them on at 1st.. lol. They grip well too.. I actually got a good deal on the wheels, 275$.. and I got the tires in 215/55/16 size from tirerack.com, which came out to around 400$ shipped to my door. That is 675$ for the set.. and I practically got a steal on the wheels.. on top of that, the mounting and balancing was another 60$.. so that's that. I'd say that's a pretty good deal you have there.. if you like the wheels I'd consider it.. The Borbet Type Es are definately nice, i love them as well, I would love to get those in 17 X 8.. but at the time I was looking for wheels I didn't have the money for 17s.. Eventually i might just use these wheels as a winter set and get some 17s for the summer and spring time..

The downside to 17s is the slightly rougher ride, you have to be more careful around potholes and bad roads, car will also look somewhat weird if it's not lowered, and low profile tires don't usually have good all season capabilities.. the sidewall is really stiff and they are wide, so in snow, they won't perform too well even if they are on a good all season tire, but i try not to drive in snow at all and besides, how often do we get heavy snow in NYC. If it falls out like hell, i won't even bother taking the car out.. I have a GXE so my car came with Hub caps... wheels were a must for me, i just wanted a replacement fast.. the difference between 15s and 16s as far as the ride goes is not noticeable to me.. only the superior handling and less road noise with these Dunlops.. 17s do look a lot better though.. i know it's hard to decide, took me forever but when i realized I don't have the money for 17s and got a good deal on those 16s i said **** it..

I have the the H&R/AGX set-up with FSTB and RSB and the ride is firm and smooth, not harsh. I also thought the ride would get harsher with the 17's but the ride is actually better/quieter. It finally feels like the suspension is complete. That may have something to do with the condition of my old tires which were Michelin X-one's (215/65-15) with 10% life left mounted on the same homely wheels you have.

I didn't mention the $1,400 (1,390) above also included new lugs, McGard locks, hubcentric rings, mounting/balancing,andtwo-day shipping. The wheels were $169ea which is on the lower end of similar quality wheels and the tires were $150ea. There are cheaper tires out there but I'm picky when it comes to tires.

It's hard to compare the look and performance of the factory 16" wheels (and tires) to aftermarket wheels and tires especially when it comes to width. Makes the car look and feel more substantial. For me it was well worth the price.
