Most HP without Supercharger

Without using a SC (supercharger) what kind of HP gains can one expect with a 1999 Maxima SE?

HP costs money. How fast do you want to go?

Good point. Let's say you work for a car shop and can hook up your car with whatever your want but no supercharger.

Again how much do you want to spend? BTW...the cost of equalling boosted or nos power on a na engine will probably exceed the cost of boost or nos(especially nos). So I don't quite see your point here.

Are you talking about simple bolt on mods or no-holds-barred all out rebuilding of both top and bottom ends, new engine management, etc...

Uhm...You are given a $4k budget. You are not allowed to use a supercharger. You have to stick with the stock engine. Simple bolt ons are fine.

Nitrous is a simple bolt on. A wet NX kit can be had for $500 or less and produce an additional 150 HP very easily. Buy beer with the other $3500.

HP don't mean diddly unless you get it too the ground. 1/4 mile times are more indicative of overall performance vs just HP.

Well with $4K, Id do I/Y/E, those new OBX headers, JWT ECU (might not be able to get it to work with your 99), MEVI, custom cams, and some headwork. If funds permitted, then I'd look into a VQ35 crankshaft, to stroke the engine, bore it out while im in there to fit custom pistons. That would use up the $4000 rather quickly. Probably have to forego the last part to stay under 4000.

There have been many posts about them, including pictures. I'm pretty sure they exist. They're also on the website, with a part number.

i know they exist... i've seen them in OBX's catalog so they are out there... but that pic that was shown a while back was 300zx headers, but i'm sure they look exactly the same for our car... give me a heads up if you get them!

Buy a VQ35DE and swap that into the car. Do the full bolt ons + nitrous. You can find a VQ35DE from www.nippon-motors.com or www.car-part.com.

Sorry dude that was just a joke and a far reaching dream for my 4th gen. Yeah it would cost alot more than 4k considering the engine, ECU, and drivetrain.

Anybody have a racing clutch in their maxima? What's the difference from that and the stock clutch?
