! New Maxima Purchase !

Well I've done my homework all over the web: NissanX, .ORG, NissanDriven, Edmunds.com, Carpoint.com, Cars.com, Vehix.com, KBB.com, Autonation.com, Autobytel.com, and others that I can't remember. I've also been into or talked to just about every dealer in the area. :dizzy:

I'm going in this weekend to try and try and hammer out a deal on a 2002 Maxima... Anybody have any last minute advice for me? Oh, and wish me luck too!!

do go to the dealer...just call and tell them what trim, color and options u want and see if what price they will give it to you. then call another dealer ask them if they are willing to beat other's price.....keep doing this over and over untill they cant go any lower..then its time for u to show up for test drive.

if they want you to go for test drive and not willing to tell u the price, just put the phone down and call another dealer.

I've already done all that...I'm going to actually go in, sit down, and take care of business.

Words of wisdom

Call First!

Work out a deal over the phone. Do all the math ahead of time and you tell them what you want the drive out price to be. I just got my 2k2 6spd Monday night. I called ahead and said $24,000 drive out (which is about $500 under invoice). He agreed. When I got there we started on the paperwork immediately. You might be able to get as high as $600 under invoice if you really put the pressure on.

What does drive out mean exactly? I'm assuming that means the actual purchase price, including all the dealer's fees, etc... plus tax/license?

You are correct. Drive off, drive out, out the door (OTD) - they're all the same. It just means the FINAL cost including taxes, doc. fees, etc.

and that price should not go beyond window price. usually they give u the invoice and everything adds up should be near window price, or MSRP

Wait...so you're saying the drive out price INCLUDES tax & license, and everything? So that's the price you write the check for? I thought that would be the price of everything BEFORE tax & license?

BTW: Apparently Nissan Motors' dealer holdback is 3% of Total Invoice.

autobytel.com

The last NEW car I bought, I went to autobytel.com. They will contact a dealer in your area, and they will call you w/ the rock bottom price.

I researched the car, dealer incentives, rebates and all that. Figured what I wanted to pay, and the price I was given was still less than what I came up with.

I went through them on my previous Max and still negotiated $500 off. So never settle for the autobytel price

Like I stated above, I got pricing from various internet sites, through the fleet managers. They usually charge a set amount, like $400 over invoice, or a percentage, like 3% over invoice. I will not pay over invoice, so I am not going to go that route.
