My weekend project.
My weekend project.
This weekend I will finally be installing my eibach springs, painting the calipers red, and doing any other misc undercoating that I see as needed. I am wondering if anyone has had any issues, or pointers in the install. I am pretty competent when it comes to cars. I just stripped my 88 tbirb turbocoupe and put a gt-40 5.0 in it with 350hp. Anyway, just looking for some pointers if neeeded. Also, any special tools required ??? I do have tons of tools so I am sure I have it if I need one. Oh, this will be on a 2k2 6spd. Thanks.

for this shocks and spring setup, a forum member, also a mechanic, will do it for me for 120. that's a very good deal for me b/c front koni needs to be modified and fit into stock strust.
I think you are asking the shop to do it....if u know a mechanic there....ask him if he wants to do a side job.

Torque Wrench
Breaker Bar
Spring Compressor
Those are the basics. The fronts are easy - no gotchas there.
Rears are a little tricky. There is a metal plate covering the top of the strut tower. I used a deep well socket attached to a 4" extension attached to a universal joint. It worked really well. I was even able to get a torque wrench on it.
Good luck - let me know if you run into any issues. I have done this job 3 times already.

You don't really want to get the alignment right away though. You really want to let the springs settle first, don't you?

Of course. I was just answering his question

Well all is installed and well. Took 3hrs, with me and my friend. We also painted the calipers and I went under the car with a can of undercoating to spray and bare metal areas. Let me say there are quite a bit, nissan is a little skimpy in spots. Anyway, spring install went fine, trimming the bump stops was the only retarded thing. I wish the springs would just come with new ones that are the right size. Oh-well, it looks awesome. It does ride pretty much the same, very slightly stiffer, but I kept the stock struts. I love it. I will try and get pics up soon...
