You guys that applied their own hood vib pack..

Are you finding that you only added the stopper and headlight pack and the problem was solved?

Did anyone need to do the adhesive procedure?

Yep, that's all I did. I also visually inspected the hood alignment but it looked ok.

Basically the parts listed in this TSB

I only ordered and installed the rubber hood bumper, and the headlight packs.

With only 6k on my 2K2, I made my dealer fix my hood vibration problem last week.

It worked for my car, but it depends of what is causing the excessive vibrations. In my case, my hood was aligned and I only experienced the vibration at highway speeds. So I figured it was probably excessive air flowing under the hood. The headlight pack seems to address that issue. It's just couple of self adhesive rubber strips which cover the space between the headlights and the hood.

Is the vibe pack something I have to buy and install myself or is it a dealer repair? I have had My 2K3 SE for only three weeks.

About $20.00 from DaveB and no more than 5 minutes of 'work'.

mykmar10,

It couldbe covered by warranty, I just hate taking it to the dealer...letting them order parts, having to go back again. What a hassle!! For a $20 fix, I'll pay and do it in 5 min.

You may not even have this issue...I only have it at 70+ in a strong headwind.

how fast

do you need to go before you can see (or hear) the vibration? I typically go 80 and have hit 110 without seeing anything so perhaps my car is just good already. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2002 SE that I just bought in May.

After reading the TSB and noticing the hood flutter, I decided to try getting the parts and installing. Before ordering parts, I looked under the hood to get an idea how much trouble removing the hood shield would be, in case I tried applying the hood adhesive myself. Then I noticed, there are rubber strips stuck to the top of the hood, right where the headlamp packs should be, and the hood stop is installed. Anyway I'm not sure why they were glued to the underside of the hood instead of on the lights, as the TSB states. One of the strips is longer than the other, and it is on the left side of the hood (if you are facing the engine), is this correct? Are the strips you get in the headlamp packs the same length?

Did anyone else with a newer 2002 come from the dealer with the strips stuck under the hood, or is it just my dealer being creative in installing the TSB fix?

I have the two rubber strips under the hood. The headlight packs are supposed to stick to the top of the headlights, not the hood. And yes, the headlight pack strips are the same length.
