I think I might do the same thing and trim my filter holder. Thanks Is the growl loud(er) with the resonator off?

I forgot to pick up my pictures but I think I can use a digicam from someone and get them up soon. I want to see how it looks like on the 2k2's.

I installed the K & N today and here's what I noticed...

It doesn't growl as much during regular driving it makes a louder 'hiss' though that sounds nice, WOT it growls the same as with the stock filter but it just roars and hisses louder. It even 'psss' louder when the tranny shifts.

great idea!

that simple and free mod is a great idea...dont really know if it helps performance all that much, if any at all, but i love the sound! i did this mod th day b4 yesterday and love it to death...only thing is now i burn a hell of a lot more gas wantin to hear it. has anyone thought of any kind of brackets or a way to modify the holder where it will still hold the filter and clip in place but still be able to use it as a osrai? anyway, props on the idea! sounds great! keep me informed on any ways to make this better in anyway!

Does that breather in the last picture make a difference at all? I just cut my holder similar to yours. I also see that you have what I think is the mid-pipe? Cool

Check out 2k2-6spd's homepage. I cut my holder like his and I actually sanded it to smooth it out and painted it red with brake caliper paint.

I have seen this done on a 4th gen. He actually drilled holes in the filter and rear of the filter holder and used zip ties to hold the filter in place.

I agree tape is a bad idea. Use some large zip ties or something.

and save up for that CAI!
