2003 Price Haggling

Just curious, has anyone here who recently bought a 2003 Max been able to haggle the price, or are the dealers really being "p***cks" about that? If not, would I really stand a better chance going with a leftover 2002, even if they're fully loaded with options I really don't want? Any advice would be helpful.

I've read a couple of posts where people have noted that they got $4000 off MSRP. Is don't believe you'll get anything lower than that. I've seen ads for 2002's with $5000 off MSRP on newspaper ads. I'm in the bay area, califonia by the way.

all I can say, *ANYTIME* you pay more than invoice for a maxima, you are in for a world of resale hurt. Forget MSRP, youre working off the wrong number. I insisted on certain options and the car had to be ordered. I paid $400 over invoice. Thats in 6/99 when this new body style just came out and there was a 2 month waiting list for a GLE with leather. And I still essentially paid invoice. $300 of that was mostly for trailering the car in as opposed to one on the lot (which were offered at or below invoice).

Last week's paper had a large volume dealer up here in Boston advertising 2k3 SE's for $22699. Not too shabby.

I got my 2003 Maxima SE 6-sp (with Leather, Titanium, Meridian & HLSD) two weeks ago in Minneapolis for $1000 under invoice on July 31st. I firmly believe that buying on the last day of the month helps TONS as I wasn't able to negotiate a similar deal earlier in the month.

Good luck, and I agree with others that anything much, if any, over invoice isn't a good deal.

How about the Canadian versions? How much below MSRP for a fully loaded auto SE?

I bought my 2003 SE a couple of weeks after the 2003's came out and got it for $300 over invoice. Mine's fully loaded -- TE, Meridian, HLSD, 6 Speed, Navi, every option under the sun.
