Seen the 03 Mazda 6?
I was just checking out the new 2003 Mazda 6 at Edmunds and thought its a pretty nice looking ride. although the engine probably isn't as fine as the VQ(their V6 produces 220hp) I think it might give Nissan, Toyota, etc. a run for their money. And the aftermarket will probably make it even more attractive. the reviewers rave about the handling of course I'd like to test it out for myself. thoughts?

True to Mazda's new philosophy i'm sure this car will handle like a charm.
As far as their engine goes, the power output of their 3L V6 isn't that far off from the VQ30.

Didn't you guys already talk about this? http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ighlight=mazda

We did already have a discussion about this...but it's still going to be a sweet car! It looks European, has decent power, and supposedly good handling. Price should be in the Altima range too. Yet another option. Also, they're coming out with a truly tuned Mazdaspeed Protege soon. Only gonna sell 1,750 stateside...

LMAO I don't like it that much, but for 5 bucks, you can't beat it! I need a seat cover, because I work at a Pizza place and get covered in all kinds of crap every night. I'd rather have a flower seat cover than pizza sauce stains

This engine, which is the Ford Duratec 3.0 block with Mazda heads and VVT, has a pathetic amount of torque. Only 192 lb-ft @ 5000rpm with a 10.0:1 CR.
The *old* VQ30DE with the same 10.0:1 CR made 205 lb-ft @ 4000rpm.
The DE-K with the same 10.0:1 CR again made 217 lb-ft @ 4000rpm.
Even the new Accord V6 with a 3.0L/10.0:1 CR make 212 lb-ft @ 5000rpm.
Crappy Ford V6 in an otherwise nice Mazda!
The top-end on the engine is nice, though. But the Ford Duratec has already been criticized for having absolutely no low-end power whatsoever, and it doesn't look like Mazda's variable valve timing does anything to help this. At least you can get the sedan V6 with a manual though, unlike the new Accord V6 sedan
I'll be sticking with my Maxima for awhile. Can't wait to run into one of these Mazda6's on the streets to give them a good a$$-whooping
