Ran my 2K2 at Race Wars-Englishtown
Well, the good news is that my auto 2k2 now has a new best time:
1st Run:
r/t .407 (red light, of course)
60' 2.221
330' 6.252
1/8 9.582 @ 73.71mph
1000' 12.445
1/4 14.876@92.36mph
2nd Run:
r/t .614
60' 2.169
330' 6.150
1/8 9.463@74.07mph
1000' 12.311
1/4 14.725@93.04mph
Now for the bad news, on my 3rd run I shot out quick but 2/3 of the way down the track my car shut off (like a stall). I coast through the traps (at a 16.0X ET) and onto the return lane where my Max sat there unable to run. Each time I cranked it, it shut off. I almost had to be towed home, but later it fired up and held until I got home; rough idle, wont rev past 2300rpm, 'check engine soon' light on . Now I have to bring it back to the dealer and find out what the heck is going on. Given the fact the I'm still stock and didn't manual shift, how I ran the car (hard but relatively normal acceleration) should not have caused this to happen. (I knew I should have bought the Acura 3.2TLS )
Peace.

Did you do any track prep or were you just brake-torquing like usual?

with those 60' times you should be in the low 14's... maybe youre not shifting fast enough. i ran the same ET as you but with a trap speed of 97 mph and my 60' was 2.33
the track that i went to was slick so i wasnt getting enough grip through 1st, but especially with your 60' times you should be running lower times

Joe, in my case I guess the ECU didn't shift fast enough as I DO have an automatic.
Steve, I brake torqued, NO manual shift but left it in D3 AND removed the spare/jack. I was very surprised that I managed to obliterate my previous best time without doing much. Funny thing: It didn't feel like a 14-second car when I made the run. So I was very shocked when I saw my time slips.

Excellent times considering the fairly mild daytime weather. You'll see a mid-14 soon enough!
As for the limp home, tow it even if you can drive it on limp. You never know if one or more of the cylinders is getting too much fuel ***while in limp mode*** under certain conditions which can prematurely wear out cylinder walls or at the very least excessively carbon up the engine.

read high perf. pontiac 10/97, dad's 100% bone stock (filter, spare, tool kit, etc. in place) with full tank 93 exxon went 14.525 at 94.1 mph on 2.09 60 foot with 24 psi F 45 psi rear on stock Goodyear GAs and 60 deg F air. Best mph, 96.2 mph with propylene oxide/race gas mix.

CONFIRMED!!! It's the MAF sensor and its on order. For all the power of the Max, its travails are bumming me out: Transverse Link Recall, Sunroof express switch stops working, hood vibration @ hwy speeds, accelerator pedal stopper and now the MAF sensor. All within the span of 6 months and 8K miles.
I'm now renting a 2K3 TL and now starting to regret leaving the Honda camp. Maybe I should have haggled the price down on a TL-S OR just waited for the 2K3 Accord V6-5speed. They don't have the same performance of the Max but they're pretty bulletproof. (Peformance aside, I need reliable transportation.)
I had my 99 Accord for over 3 years and it had its first major repair just this past April. When this lease is up, I'm gonna reconsider getting a TL (probably a redesigned 2K5 TL at that).
Sorry about the rant.
Peace.
