Got a ticket today

I was going over 90, but the cop said that on curved roads, the radar reads much lower and he said he clocked me at 83. he wrote me my ticket and I was on my way. He said that if he had laser and I had been clocked going 2mph faster, I would probably be going to jail.

Oh well, off to traffic school.

Sucks to hear but like I tell all my friends "Cruise Control" and take your foot off the gas...best way (IMO) to avoid tickets...even though sometimes it takes forever to get where you're going. Welp, good luck getting it taken care of, hope everything turns out well.

I assume that since u were going 83 and you weren't taken off to jail, then you must have been on the freeway or in a 65mph speed limit area. Where were you?

j/k- It was on the Squaw Peak- 65 mph limit. Believe it or not, I was actually doing a decent job of keeping with the flow of traffic. I just happened to be the lead car.

The crazy thing is that if on any highway in the entire state you get caught going 85 mph+, you go to jail.

Damn. I just found out that I can't go to traffic school. It has been 1 year and 10 months since I last went and you can only go every two years. $140 down the tube

I just got one too! 54 mph in a 45 mph zone. $90.00 for the ticket and $30.00 for traffic school. One hell of a way to commerate Sept. 11th. Tickets suck!

Court supervision? I don't think we have that here.

How much would an attorney cost? And I was blatantly speeding, so how the hell would they get me off?

my dads a lawyer, part of the law he does is traffic, he knows all the cops, he hooks up his clients, if its your 1st ticket, its like 75 plus court costs, althought they have tickets clinics which may be cheaper but not better. if you have multiple tickets, then it could be over 125. but this is in south florida.

I got a wreckless driving ticket a couple of months ago (88/55). The lawyer couldn't do jack with the prosecutor (who offered $200 fine and 60 days suspended license) nor the judge ($100 fine and 30 days suspended license).

On appeal, with the same defense lawyer but different (and younger) prosecutor and judge, it got knocked down to improper driving (court costs with no suspension). Talk about the luck of the draw. A lot can depend on what mood everyone is in when you show up for court.

I really couldn't afford to be w/o my license, but total out of pocket cost was close to $1000.

I wish you the best.

Got one today too

I was going 120 on the way to work to get some a-hole in a supercharched TOY 4Runner off my rear. Unfortunately I passed a bike cop who was only doing 55. He asked if I was on my way to the hospital or something. I just said sorry, I was wrong and wreckless. Guess it worked , he wrote the ticket for 75 in a 55. Good thing his radar was not on!

That is my second ticket this month. In Texas we can take drivers safety course then get Deffered Adjudication (sp?) for the second ticket. It is like court supervision you mention.

laters,
Chris

When I first got my attorney thru my cousin as a referral he only charged me $100....now he only charges me only $20 a visit
(after hiring him for over 20 visits & taking him out for lunch & beer afterwards kinda did the trick)

-basically if you have a good attorney he will make a deal w/ the proseutor who will then advise the judge what you agreed on....usually my attorney knew the prosecutor so I would get the speeding tickets knocked...

why don't you have a radar?!?!

all the people that speed must get a Passport 8500 or a V1(better then 8500)
its stupid not to get one, i've been saved a lot of times....i did 48 in a 35mph and it detected a cop right after the turn....saved me a 150 + insurance over the years.

you got to get a radar detector

i got a Passport 8500, works great but i wish i was smart enough back then to get the V1

i got a radar & can say it saved me more than a couple times...but cops get smarter...they only turn it on when they see you speeding

Re: Re: Got a ticket today

WTF? You have to go to driving school for going 9 mph over the limit? In Iowa, if you are going 10mph or under, in a 35mph zone or more, it doesn't even count.

dude, i saw how long it takes for those radars to start up, when driving in the highway, you pass in a few seconds on him ,he can't do ****....its either he has it on all the time or he has it off.

its all about statstics
if you drive fast, you'll get caught no MATTER what you have...a radar, jammer, etc....you'll get caught one day

I don't know where Squaw Peak is, but I can't imagine that doing 90 on any road with the name "Peak" in it, is a good thing!

Yeah, it's 8 lanes wide (4 each way) and it is straight and flat. It's a speeder's dream.

I think I'm gonna get an Escort 8500. I can pick one up for $250 shipped right now.

*** Get the Passport 8500. The extra hundy for the V1 is hype, IMO. Save your dough.
