Stutter at 40mph - 2k2 SE

Greetings,

Those of you with automatics (no heckling), are you having a problem with your 2k2(3)'s where it just doesn't feel like it knows which gear to be in around 40mph? Gets a little jumpy and not smooth at all? It's gotten to the point that I stay out of that range to avoid this.

When accelerating past this point, it shifts a little hard, but if you are say going to 45-50, its downright rough for an automatic.

Haven't taken it to the dealer yet, I want some ammunition to get them to do something about before being blown off by them. Any suggestions?

I sometimes get those problems too. Not sure where it comes from, could just be the computer shifting at that point. I wish Nissan would put a sport-shift on their cars... I mean they do it on the Infiniti's. Just a quick question since we're talking AUTOs... have you guys been able to bring the Tach near redline? I'm not one to slam the accelerator, but I just wanted to know if any of you have ever done it. It seems like the tranny shifts way before...

My 2k2 does this ALL THE TIME!! between 40 and 50 (auto). There has been many discussions on this on the board. Since the throttle bodies are all computer controlled now its got something to do with that, it really is quite annoying. My dealer told basically told me Im **** out of luck until Nissan can come out with something that reprograms the ECU (or some BS like that).

If your dealer tells you something different or has a solution let me know, I'd be curious to hear what your dealer says...

I have the same problem.. it's not as bad as it was when I first got the car (either that or I'm used to it now) but it still does exactly as u described. I took it to the dealer 2 days after I bought the car and the service manager told me every automatic does it.. It has something to do with the electronic tranny going in/out of its clutch-break (?) or something like that..

I'd take it to the dealer and show it to them, who knows.. if they do say something else do let us know

I have a 2K2 Auto SE and have never felt these problems. I drive quite a bit between 35-45 mph in my town. I am going to start checking this out, maybee I just never noticed it. And yes the Automatics do rev all the way to the redline, at least mine does and it is bone stock.
