This may sound weird but when I start the car (2k2 SE) and drive away I hear this "click" almost like the sound when you hit the lock button to lock all your doors. Is this normal? Are my doors suppose to automatically lock when you pull away because mine do not. It makes a sound like they should be, but they dont lock? Any help here?

Does it only do it after you start the car? like not every time you stop and start, but only right after you start up and pull away.... Mine does it too, but mine sounds more like a spring releasing(or cylinoid) and it has sort of an echo sound to it.

Yes, exactly. Its only after I initially pull away, or reverse out of a parking space. No other times while driving. And maybe a "click" was misleading. It sounds exactly like it would sound when your sitting in your car and you press the button to lock your doors.

I know some cars have that feature that your doors lock automatically after you pull away (a safety thing I guess). Is the Max suppose to do that too??

i think i know what you're talking about....
for me it happens when i start the car and drive away while turnng the wheel to the left.

no idea what it is though and I've posted before about this before to no avail.

i still havent checked my vin # though to see if I need to take care of the transverse link problem my car has though.

Better get that done

That's normal. It's ABS engaging.

That's correct. It's the ABS system doing a self-check. It only happens the first time you reach 3-5 mph after you start the engine.

Yup, its the ABS self test. Only does it after the car the car has been started.

Yep, ABS self check. I brought my 2k2 to the dealer three times before they were able to explain the noise. I thought I was going crazy cause nobody heard the noise but me for a long time.

Then one weekend I flew out of town and left the car with the wife. Two days later she calls to tell the car is making a funny noise like the one I had been hearing. I played dumb and said she was crazy, knowing full well what sound she had been hearing, and laid a guilt trip on her for messing up the car.

Needless to say there wasn't really any problem. God I love to play with that woman’s head!
