How to disconnect the VIAS

I read the VIAS failure FAQ section. I am just a little unclear on how to actually disconnect the VIAS. I have a 2k2. Someone help me please.... I suspect my VIAS is not working. The car doesn't pull as hard as 4000rpm once it passes 5500rpm. It's really weird, when I step on it from stop, i feel a rush of power at 3000rpm, and another rush of power at 4000rpm, and then it goes down after 5500rpm. It goes down so much after 5500rpm that it is having a hard time reaching the redline. IS this normal for 2k2 6spd? I suspect my VIAS is not working properly.

If you take your engine cover off you will see a black canister that is bolted on with one 12 mm Bolt. There are two black hoses comming from it. You can disconect both of those hoses either at the canister or where they connect on your manifold. But when you do this your check engine light will come on, but shortly after reconnecting the hoses it will shut off. Also you will have a small vacume leak doing this so your car will feel a little shacky, you can plug the holes in the hoses or wher you remove the hoses from your manifold, that will stop the vacume leak.

Power stays pretty strong up until 6100 RPM on a 2002 "stock" maxima.
