Addco Install Help

First off i'd like to say i've done a search and came up with only the installs for 3rd gen and 4th gen.

According to one of the instructions online i found, the 5th gen max was supposed to have another 2 U bar's compared to the 4th gen. I received mine w/ only 2 U bars and 2 U braces (supposed to have 4 u bars? )

Just wanted to know if i'm actually missing any parts and if i should bother calling cattman or not?

Also, if anyone has any pictorial instructions not for 3rd gen, much appreciated.

Saw that already.. it's the one that I used to help me try to isntall it. I wanted to know if anyone that has a 5th gen w/ it installed had the 4 U bars and if they could post pics of the side supporters from the outter view of the car, the only pics they have are from the inside.

That is a 5th gen on Matt's page. There's also a pic of the outer side on Step 5.

I'm slightly confused on your terminology but for the sake of ease you should have the items in the pic below:

I did the Addco install on my 5th recently. Same exact as the 4th Gen. Looks like you have all the parts.

That install has all the pics you could ever want. You just have to make sense of them when you do the install. Just looking at the paper won't help. You have to dive in and do it. It shouldn't take you more than 30-60 minutes at the very most.

For the 5th gen, they should have sent you another set of "[" brackets to fit the 5th gens larger trailing arms. The ones that come in the shrink-wrapped package will not fit properly. If you did not receive another set with the bar, contact the person you purchased the bar from to receive the proper pair...

Good luck!

Did you ever contact them about getting new U bolts or did the ones provided fit for you?

I just bought an Addco and the kit is #655. I would hope they would have fixed everything by now, but I'm not sure. From what I understand the small square-ish shaped bolts are the ones that don't fit. Instead of waiting for them to ship, can they be bought at a Hardware store? I'd hate get all up under my car and start making up new cuss words.

*** This won't answer your question, but that's crap. Make them send the parts that fit your freakin' car. They should know by now which bolts, screws, brackets, etc. to send with the kits. I see posts about how this mod bangs, this one creeks, and so on. Having to bend your own u-bolts, and modify parts to get a $15 piece of steel that we pay $150 for, is unacceptable. I wish the manufacturers of these aftermarket parts would realize this.

-rant over.

Called and they're supposedly shipping the parts, been about 4 business days so hopefully get here soon (despite my midterms).

I agree, going to ACE and buying new U-bolts is kinda screwed considering we're paying about 150 in some cases or 115 in other cases... still though, that's over $100

Did you call Addco direct or call the place you bought it from?

TO the people that got them, are they longer ow what? What should I get at the hardware store. I will bring in the old part and just say "I need this, but longer." Is that right?

sort of, if we're still talking about the same thing this comparison should give you an idea of what's needed.

the silver bracket was what was included and was slightly short enough to not fit properly. Addco sent me the gold brackets which though looks similar is actually a few mm larger/longer.

If these are the brackets you're talking about there is a way around it, some people just ended up banging the bracket apart so that the opening is bigger.

I think I am in business then because all of my hardware is gold. I was thrown off beause the instructions say for 4th gens. I guess the only way to find out is to get under there and do it..

Yep

I had to go through the same problem so why not you? :P just kidding man.

Seriously, you shouldn't have any problems. Btw, for ease of installing the bar make sure you suspend (though not tighten) the trailing arm portions before you attach the rear beam portion of things. I know the instruction says opposite but it really is easier if you do the trailing arms first.

Unfortunately, the color has nothing to do with it. Both sets of mine were gold.....

From the installation point of view, Soundmike is right. It is easier installing the trailing arm sections first...

Ohhh boy!! way to burst my bubble Audtatious : I guess I'll have to look at the space after the 90 degree bend and before the threads start. Thats seems to be where they added a couple of MM's.

Better knowing now than when you have the car jacked up and are trying to install it

You should be able to test-fit them on the car. Simply reach around the wheel and see if they easily fit over the trailing arm. If they don't, you have the wrong ones....
