My first experience with Nissan service.....

First off....Nissan needs to take a look at Honda service... i was disgusted with their service.... i'll explain....

I had my first oil change on Saturday. The dealer had made the appointment for 9am on saturday. I got there at 8:40am and was greeted by an employee who asked me to leave the car running and moved it into a waiting spot....

Nice, but how about putting a clear plastic seatcover on and paper flootmat down first!?!??! like i want your oily boots on my floormats and i love the smell of oil in my car... Honduuuuuuh does that.

I go inside and tell him that i need my oil done and that its the first time i had been here. I also tell him of the hood flutter/shaking on the driver's side at 70mph. Lastly, i tell him that my 4->5 shift and sometimes 5->6 shift is nowhere near smooth.

He informs me it will be 1 hour to 1.5 hours..... i was like "SERIOUS?!?!"...... fine... i go to the waiting area that has all the local papers and a tv on. Also, very cool Datsun 260/280z wallpaper.

Honduuuuuuuuuuh has free refreshments and popcorn/pretzels..... thats a big plus in my book.

At, 10am, they announce my car is ready. I go to the service area and he says the oil is done. They knew about the hood problem and ordered the following parts:

999MP-9B000P (not sure on that "B" though)
65829-50A00 (sloppy handwriting)
26033-2Y900
26083-2Y900

with "Hood Recall" on the slip too.

$25.73 for the oil change. ($12.10in labor) So i get in my car and it smells like oil. I'm instantly ****ed. I drive one block to my dealership to test drive 350Z. I get out and notice black marks all over my hood. dirt and grease marks everywhere. I go inside and get my dealer and his manager and have them take a look. They agree that it is unacceptable and they call down to the service dept.

I go back down there and they inspect and agree and take it to car detail place and only do the hood. Once again, dirty emplyee moves my car without plastic cover and paper mats

Honduuuuuuuuuuuh would have given my free oil change for taking that long and last time honduuuuuh dirtied my car, i got a free detailing certificate (which i still havent used)

I dont know it is just this particular service place, but i highly doubt i will go there anymore for anything after they do my hood recall. I am goign to enjoy filling out their customer feedback card i have.

I would be upset too if a dealer messed up my mats or the paint. Honda experiences vary dramatically from dealer to dealer, which is probably true for Nissan too. I can tell you that in Houston Gillman Honda has consistently provided us with crappy service (wait 1.5 hours for an oil change) and their body shop is beyond bad (hopeless) but Russell&Smith Honda have been great except for one employee that bent the hood of the car when they tried to close it with the prop up! In any case, we are glad our Honda days are over.

My dealer always washes my car after ANY type of work is done on it. I have a comfortable waiting area with a TV and a lot of Mags and newspapers. They will driver me anywhere I want to go while waiting for service. Hell I went to the mall of america once and shopped for 3 hours. They are aNissan 1st dealer though. Pick your dealers wisely.
