Stupid, stupid, stupid....

I did something really dumb on Saturday. While backing up in a supermarket parking lot I accidently clipped the rear bumper of a light truck and busted my left taillight. Damn. There was no damage to the truck so the owner didn't want to bother exchanging information. But the new taillight cost me $131 plus $34 for the dealer to install it. BTW, my 18 year old mod happy son said I blew a chance to install two altezzas! Really now.

Of course I've always kept my Max in pristine condition. I like it to look like it just came out of the showroom. But now there are a few minor scratches on the rear bumper right below the taillight. Rubbing compound didn't get them out and I'm afraid touch up paint would make it worse. Does anyone have a good way to get rid of them?

That sucks dude.

You did what you could. You may just have to get it painted.

Wow, that was REALLY helpful.

In all seriousness, rear bumper scratches drive me nuts. Worse than any other part of the car. I use a two part touch-up paint, but I don't know about the color of your car. For light scratches, you might want to try Turtle Wax Color Cure. It works REALLY well on white.

REALLY?!?! That stuff really works? I don't have any scratches (YET) but it's good to know.

It works like a charm....on white. I had less luck with the blue color on the Xterra.

Thanks, I'll try the Turtle Was Color Cure. With my Sunlit Sand, which is sort of light, it may work.
