Replacement tweeters arrived..

I ordered some 1" Polk Audio EX3500 silk tweeters as replacements for the 1/4" Clarion paper POS's. I have done the prerequisite searching in the Audio forum and All forums but I have not found pics.

I was under the assumption that they were going to be drop-in's, but after pulling down the A-pillar and unscrewing the OEM tweet, it became clear that this wasn't going to be a quickie. I have a 2k SE 5sp with Bose....has anyone done this? My real question is, do you remove the square metal bracket that the round tweeter sits in , or do you choose the correct flush mount cup and mount it in the metal bracket? (Polks came with all kinds of mounting options. I will put up pics in a few minutes..)

OR did you just surface mount OUTSIDE the A pillar on the existing grille...

I know I know..why didn't I post this in the audio forum....
I figured no one visits maxima.org and is solely interested in the audio capabilities of the car...they may venture over there once in awhile, but most of us hang out here. + Moderators can sling it over there if they wish..

Not sure how deep the Polks are but when i put on the tweets from my Inf. Ref. i took out the OEM tweets including the soft metal that mounts it in the pillar.
