wow for 500 bucks... thats awesome. hey dmb, you have a test pipe right? will it help the catback exhaust? or just having a test pipe alone be better? cuz im getting sick of that ricey sound from the exhaust. and that apex dry filter that you have... is it better than the k&n filter? if its worth it then ill buy the filter from you.

thanks!

the apexi filter was proven to gain 4whp over the k&n filter. I know steve had a smaller k&n filter but the safety of knowing you maf is save from oil makes me first in line whenever these things get shipped out.

the frankencar intake and k&n filter has additional 10 fwhp. so having an apexi filter will have a 14 fwhp? wow.. then im gonna get that too hahahha... to make up the hp its supposed to give from the catback exhuast!!! haha

Were there any dynos that Apexi gained additional 4whp?

I have K&N now and when it comes time to change it I was thinking of getting Apexi maybe.

How much is it anyway?

well steve did 3 dynos. One with the k&n, then the next run was with the apexi filter which he gained 4whp over the k&n. His third run he took off the filter totally and only gained like .4whp over the apexi. So basically the apexi flows almost the same air as no filter at all.

Does it filter the dirt like no filter at all?

How often would you have to change the Apexi filter? That could get quite expensive if it's at the normal 15-30k.

its a 30k filter which can get expensive but you get what u pay for mostly these days. I just want the apexi to take away some of the MAF worries I am having with an oiled filter.

Thanks. I sometimes forget that others don't drive as many miles as me. I bought my car in July I think and I already have over 11k on it. If I wasn't married it would be much more. I kinda wish I had my hoopty back. I didn't want to drive it that much

From my years on the org I have come to the conclusion that all intakes are very similar performance wise. Yes there are some noticeable differences between a CAI and HAI, but the HAI's all perform the same. It doesnt matter if its a Stillen, JTW, Frankencar, or a homemade intake they all are going to provide similar hp gains. A 1 or 2 hp difference between intakes isnt going to be noticeable.

I think having a midpipe makes a huge difference when it comes to
the way it sounds.

Performance wise....I can't really back this up with dyno charts but I used to have just the JWT intake and after I got the frankencar midpipe, I felt the car pulling much harder.

that's the experience almost every has had that the car not only sounded better and the engine bay looked much cleaner but that they also felt an improvement in overall power and slightly less low end lag.

the apexi's are good for about 30K miles and trap dirt THE BEST, i got 3.8 more hp on the dynoes, i did two runs with apexi then two with k/n then one with no fitler. it's 104 shipped to add an apexi to an existing intake becase of the other hardware you need but it's only 75 shipped for a new filter when you need one, i have one now and i swear by it, i was SCARED to do the dyno runs with the k/n but i did them anyway.

Well I decided to take off early today to install the FrankenCar Midpipe. Not an easy experience, but not extremely difficult either. I had one hell of a time getting the rubber hosing onto the intake manifold. I both like and dislike the support arm. I don't have a bolt that fits properly so I guess I'll either have to find another one or cut the stock one. I bought a 1/4 bolt but I guess the threads are different. I tried to get the Berk bracket back on, but it seemed impossible to do so. Now that the bitc*ing is done I'll post the good. It sounds phenominal and I can see why some don't even use a support bracket as tight as it is. Steve, I'll be purchasing the Apexi intake once it comes in. Is it more difficult to install?

YGM and the apexi is a 2 minute install. the smaller screw from another part of the stock intake uninstall will fit perfectly. and yes it's very stiff even without the bracket i didnt have one on my car for months.

Why do you keep resetting the ECU?

That's just it, I only have 4 screws left over from taking OEM intake out. I thought I kept them all.

I went back to a stock airbox till I get the Injen because the wife was sick of the whistling at part throttle. Let me tell you, I lost MAJOR top end without the intake!

The Frankencar Intake needs to look better IMO. The Injen looks 100x better. This post has nothing to do with performance!

To make the midpipe

Attach the filter WITHOUT having to buy a MAF bracket
