Re: simple advice from a guy who likes RICE
My heart rate is fine, but it would be better if I didn't see so many "I want my power back" or "let's sue nissan" threads.
I'm gonna go call vortech now to ask them why I don't have 500hp yet...
*Edit : as far as that stupid URL is concerned, here are some favourite quotes :
"Certain magazines seem to think that results obtained from chassis dynos are the gospel. They are not. "
"Chassis dynos are quick and easy to hook up but have many of the above failings. They do not possess the accuracy of a properly calibrated engine dyno which has a more carefully controlled environment and condition set. "
"Differential losses in the commonly used Hypoid type gearset is in the order of 6 to 10%." (BTW : THIS IS FOR REAR WHEEL DRIVE, IE. NOT A MAXIMA!)
"Another SDS customer had his drag car chassis dynoed. It showed a max hp of 280 yet when the car weight, ET and trap speed were plugged in, these showed that around 500hp was required to achieve these results. The dyno figure was so far off, it was essentially useless."
Enough pasting. I'll say it again: dynos only mean so much. Take it as a possibility that you are losing power in the drivetrain, and if you think you are really seeing a 10% drivetrain loss (and you want to prove your point to those who have told you it is impossible), take a few 2k2+ Autos on a dyno and get some numbers from those; there you know there is a greater parasitic loss - logically those hp numbers WILL account for around 25% loss from crank. If you still see the same numbers, you know the problem does not lie with the figures at the crank. I'm sorry if this confuses you.
This isn't the first thread on the matter; understand that some people are sick of it already - there is a sticky for a reason and you guys can take it there.

yeah, I've been all over the sticky...just wanted to get my two cents in here too.
I was just having a little fun...
The main thing about the dynos, is that they are showing more "parasitic" losses on the Maxima than the Altima.
the altima as we all know is rated at 240hp
the maxima as we all know is rated at 255hp
for some reason they both dyno at around 195-200hp at the wheels...
all this with the same 4speed automatic transmission...
looks awful fishy to me.
regardless of how inaccurate the dyno's are, I would think that they would at least show the maxima at 210-215hp if the Altima is showing 195-200hp...maybe I'm trying to use to much common sense for this situation...I've been known to use it in the past...
on occasion...

Nissan Motors was sueing nissan.com for the rights to nissan.com
why would "some other guy" sue them for nissan.com...Nissan Motors doesn't own nissan.com
NISSAN LOST....
that's why we all go to www.nissandriven.com
jeeeeezzzz!
when you win a case like this, the loser pays for the legal fees, it's all part of their big lie...
It would cost ME more, but we have alot of people in on this...
plus, we may be getting an extended warantee, or a buy back...if they buy my maxima back, hell, I'm $9,000 upsidedown in my 2k3...I paid $28,000 for it, and KBB shows it's worth $19,000....if they bought it back for what I owe, I'd be making out like a bandit...Mazda bought back Miata's that they lied about...Nissan may have to as well...it was a selling point for me...
and we may stop them from doing it in the future...or we may at least make them think twice...

SteVTEC, if you come across this thread, could you use your Cartest2000 progam and duplicate the 1/4 mile time in my sig? (I had a difficult time duplicating my best time with Cartest 4.0. I kept getting 15.1X second ETs.) Thanks.

I'm sick of this HP issue. It amazes me you guys with '02+ Maximas are b itching and complaining about dyno results when your cars are pulling mid/low 14s stock!!! WTF?
My opinion is this, who fukin cares what the dyno says if your car performs in the real world! Let me repeat myself "mid/low 14's stock", does that mean anything to you?
Simply fukin amazed with this $hit,

below is what it means to me...
---------------------------------
With the current edition of "255 horepower" putting down mid-to-low 14's; one would think the Maxima could run high 13's to low 14's if we REALLY had 255hp. Or mabye at least consistent low 14's?
I think so...and I want my 255hp...all of it.
quit b!tching us out for our b!tching...at least ours is for a worthy cause...

does that explain?
BTW, your red comments above..classy!

I guess you're right, the Maxima puts out 260HP/260TQ and has a 25-30% driveline loss....

(Originally posted by VQMAN) now correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you pronouce your id as "maxi-ma'am"?
