woohoo.... i have 5sp stock 2K SE, and my friend has a 5sp 2K 323i, and we've always debated about our cars.. Finally got a chance to race him 2 nights back, and ate him for lunch.... and hes a pretty good stick driver at that..

by the time i shifted into 3rd, i already had almost a car length on him.. and within seconds, i had enough room to give my right indicator and move in front of him - he didnt enjoy that too much!

man, i am impressed by the power of my new max!!

anyone raced a 330? what about 5-series auto/stick? can a max with mods beat that out? just curious...

Hey MadMax2000! Nice name

I raced a 323i a few months ago with the same result. It was a tasty Bavarian pastry.

Never have raced a 330i. It would be a good run. I have had the opportunity to get spanked by a few modded M3's though ARGHHHHHHHHH....

Don't the cars weigh about the same and doesn't the Max have like 222 hp vs. 180 or so? Why are you that impressed?

I agree with Madmax2k...

... the best match up would be the 330i against a 5th Gen. I think 225hp vs 222hp would be a better match up, but I think handling would go to the bmw. But in a long distance run?.....hmmmm

Raced 323 and a 528

I raced a 323 the other day... this lady with her 8-10 year old son were in the BMW, the kid kept looking at my Max, and saying things to her mom. At a red light the kid and the mom looked over and smiled....then ... Bammm they were off.... I gave chase... at about 45 I caught up and at 65 they were in my mirrors. I felt bad, racing a mom!, but hey you have to teach "humility" to these kids, you know, and who better than my "Maxx"

My brother owns a 528i auto. He can keep up from a rolling start but no way he will pass me. from a stop I will kill him every time.

It's stock, with twin chrome tips. I am waiting for the Greddy or the HKS cat back.

thats like racing an altima and not expecting to win.. but you gotta start somewhere.. so good kill.. as for the 5 series and 3 series.. your assuming they're stock?? what if they're not?? my guess is tides would be changed with a quickness..

As said before, the 330i would be close because the 330i has a little more hp, but it also weighs more. The max will take out a 530 because that thing has at least 500lbs over the max. 540...you better start modding...

In reply to NickStam, many people with BMW's think they're fast. They think that the fact that they paid 35k for a car means it is fast. Personally, I would never pay 35k for a car with less than 200hp, unless it looks DAMN good and performs as if there is no tomm.

PS Didn't mean to rant at ya or anything, just voiceing my opinion.

Thanks SE MaN, but I can only say "I wish"! The truth is I lose at least as many races as I win at the track. The last time out, I got spanked more times than I wish to remember! I was lucky to win 2 out of 5 races! But, I try to race cars that Im not sure I can beat, or that I know will teach Mad Max a thing or 2. I dont enjoy racing cars that its obvious Im going to beat.

It much more impressive to run with, or beat, a car that no one expects you to

i raced my brother in a 330i steptronic auto with the sport package. I hit it way before him from about 30 mph and he stayed right with me. It would be a good race from a standstill. A auto max would get beat by the 330i. As for handling and braking the 330 is years ahead of the Maxima. When i drive the 330i and then the maxima, i can feel how much more control and feel the BMW has. As for a 540i, you need a s/c maxima to take one of those. I can tell you those things haul even with the auto.
