Tranny Cooler Install on 2K2???
Does anyone have a tranny cooler install how-to for the 2k2?
I know there's not much to it but does the grill have to be removed, location of in and outflow's, etc?
Alas, search brought a lot of info on tranny coolers but no working link how-to's.
Thanks in advance.

Go to www.maxima.org and click on "Shop Talk" instead of "Forums". There is a tranny cooler install there. Although it is for 4th gen I found it very helpful when installing one on my 2K2. I didn't use the same brand cooler either. I used a Tru-Cool 4452.

The install for the 4th gen is the same as the 5th, line location, etc. The hardest part of the intall is mounting the cooler to the radiator. This fix helps big time, fixed all my shifting problems. Good luck, oh and wear gloves cause the radiator will tear your hands to shreads and don't for get the Dextron-III Trans oil. Chris

I don't know about the original thread poster, but I added it to a stock 02 cause the trans tended to stick or kinda overheat in stop and go traffic. I could never get the trans to shift when it got hot, this fixed my problems, every max I have had has had an overheating problem, this fixed all of them and it only cost 65 bucks (I got the high performance Hayden Trans Cooler).

Yes this is for the '02. I take it to the track frequently and I drive "spirited" most of the time. Our cars have really high tranny temps and in the summer we get high temps outside (I'm in the South). Can't hurt to have it and it should increase the life of the transmission. Plus, if I do any other "intensive" mods in the future, it will be needed. I'm using Amsoil ATF and have some all ready for the increase in volume. I bought the B&M Supercooler for $49 FROM JEGS.COM.

The next step is to install a temp gauge to see how effective this B&M cooler is. I purchased also from jegs and the install took 1/2hr on a lift, didn't have to remove the grill. However if you don't have a lift to work under, removing the grill is not a bad idea; 3 10mm bolts and press down on two tabs on the bottom of the inner grill lips and out it pops. Good luck with the install and if you have any problems call Jeff at maximum tuning in Glen cove LI. Good luck

I truly wish I had someone nearby to do the VB mod. How do you like it and how much was it? Did you let the Level 1, 2 or 3 done? I've got a floor jack and jack stands but I may take the grill off anyway. I'll see.
I will take lot's of pics and do a 2K2 writeup if anyone wants it.
Thanks for all the input.
