Installing M4 Polargs

Hey everybody,

I just got my clears in the mail today along with 3 sets of M4 Polargs. Please forgive my ignorance, but I need to know something about installing them. I remember my dad telling me that you shouldn't touch the headlight bulb when you replace it as the oils from your hands can cause the bulb to explode. Is the same true with the smaller type bulbs like these?

Thanks

UPDATE: Sorry guys, I did a search and found what I needed. No need to reply. Thanks!

On most of those bulbs, I have heard to not touch the bulb if you can help it. I don't know about the spontaneous combustion story, but, ya never know I guess.

I had a couple of Thunderbird SCs and the fog lamp lenses could crack very easily. This would cause the fog lamp bulbs to get dirty and blow out. When replacing the bulbs, even these smaller ones, it is recommended that you do not touch the bulbs with your bare fingers / hands.

Just to be safe I would not touch the bulbs with my bare fingers / hands. Just a thought...

Oils and other contaminants most definitely can cause failure. Some earlier than others.

My suggestion...and I have done with with all my vehicles for years now...is to keep a box of those latex surgical gloves handy for this and other type of needs. They keep your hands clean, keep the object clean and are tight enough to allow for precise movement.
