I've got a 2003 WRX, and I LOVE that car (my weekend toy).
I traded a 2000 Z28 LS1 6-speed for it, and I dont regret it at all. I've had the Maxima for 2 days and its a sweet car for sure, but the WRX is always going to be my baby. Its just an absolute blast to drive. I've had it since August and I just turned 2000 miles, so not much in the way of performance mods yet. I have spent about $5000 so far though...
Pic of my WRX
Mods so far:
17" Rota Subzero Wheels, Bronze
Kumho Ecsta Supra Tires (215/45/17)
Prodrive Exhaust
K&N Panel
Clear Bra
STi Hood Scoop
Mesh Foglight Covers
Momo King Shift ****
ZeroSports Grille
STi Carbon Fiber GT Wing
STi JDM projector headlights
STi V2 front lip
Go Fast Bits Blow-Off Valve

You guys are forgetting that the great thing about the WRX is that it's a 4-door with complete all-weather capability and massive track potential. That's some the F-Body cannot claim. I had a Z28 and I know they have ton of weaknesses.

These are 2 completely different cars, built for completely different purposes. You can't rip a stock f-body thru the gravel off-road, and you can't lay down a 12.9-13.5 1320 in a stock WRX... Each has its strengths and weaknesses. The WRX is a much more well-rounded car though, I dont think there is any way to dispute that.
PS - I miss my Z28 severely, however I dont regret replacing it with the WRX. Great cars, but very, very different.
Trying to explain that looks are subjective would be too much trouble on this forum.
I don't recall many small-displacement turbo fours being autobahn bombers. That's left to cars with nearly an opposite setup: RWD, V8, 5-spd auto.
Try hangingwith a WRX in the turns.
