Jezz, get the fock outta the Mustang Mentality. NO ONE buys a SC 430 for acceleration but instead for the panache, the HARDTOP CONVERTIBLE, one of the finest interiors EVER MADE, reliability. IT is a GRAND TOURER, not a sports car. Owners know this.

You can't swap the V-8 SC 430. Now from my understanding, a SC 330 should be coming, cheaper and still no engine swap. V-6 instead of a I-6.

When did the 3.0 become a VQ engine?

Lexus V-8s are beasts stock on the highway. 60mph and up, they really pull strong.

Faster does not=better

you mean the year 1994, as a 1995 Model Maxima...

well, at least that is the case here in the states...

i see a lot of the new sc430's in my area, they are nice looking cars but for that money you would have to be dumb not to get an M3 or M5 instead. i had a run in with an older model 740IL and we both punched it at the same time and he stayed about a car behind me the whole time from 30-85. i was suprised how well it held its ground, at the time i had y/vb/CIA

IMO, the SC430 is for the country-club type who care much more about image and perfromance. The 7-series is perhaps one of the ugliest cars on the road. My uncle has both an M5 and a new 7-series and he's looking into getting rid of the 7-series. The i-drive system on that car is extremely complicated and makes everyday activites like changing radio stations and climate control settings into a complete pain in the a$$.

How can u say this? It depends ON WHAT U WANT.

The M3/M5 will out perform the SC 430 in every aspect.
THe SC 430 has a retractable hardtop and will work forever.

These are totally diffrent cars. If the SC was so dumb, 8,000 of them would not have been sold 8 months before they came to the states.

Thanks, I honestly did not know that.

Concerning the 7, I loved the old one and the new one is growning on me. The interior is really something, love or hate it. I-drive is so stupid IMO, but the car FEELS like it is worth 80k. I love the side, the front and rear I am not a fan of.

last week i ran my couins gs430 which is a v8 300+ hp sedan(practically same motor) he gave me a carhead start in a 3.0 max at a roll from 80 similar to this situation, ive never lost so bad ever!not to burst anyones bubble but regardless of a 3.0 or a 3.5 it will defininately not be close at all. the sc 430 and gs 430 have remarkable top end gears and hit 150 in a heartbeat. if you have the stillens supercharger than theirs no need of reading this post

who would buy a SC430 before an M3 or M5?

not me...

but if the dude with $60,000 prefers a Lexus SC430 with a retractable hardtop...he/she must have his reasons. Not everyone buys a car because it can take a corner at 90mph...or can go 0-60 in less time than any other car in the price range. And not everyone has the same opinion on looks/style. It's not a bad car. I wouldn't drop $60 large on any Lexus...but that's me...i'd get a BMW M3/M5 or Mercedes AMG...

i agree with you man. frankly, i don't get why some people choose to judge others on this matter. it's their money, and different things are important to different people. some people will never go WOT, and comfort and style mean more to them than anything else. many people would laugh at us and call us immature for fussing over 0-60 and 1320 times.

everytime a lexus (or some other slow, but nice car) v. maxima discussion comes up, our maximas are better because we're faster...but when you compare the maxima to the SRT-4, our maxima is better because we have nicer interiors. curious how 0-60 means nothing in the latter comparison

bottom line, if i had 60 grand to spend on a car, i'd get an M3, or some benz, just like many of us on this forum would. but i'm not going to criticize another person's decision to spend that 60K because my opinion has nothing to do with the decision that THEY make about their automobile.

well, 3.0vq in 5th gen is more refined than 3.5vq
u can ask any engineer in japan (i know this cuz my friend's dad works in nissan japan)
thats why 3.0 sounds better than 3.5 (my opinion, since i drive both very often)
and by lookin at the dyno tests of 4th 3.0, 5th 3.0 and 5th 3.5
5th 3.0 has the most consistent performance
sweet ;-)
well, both 3.0 and 3.5 have their own goods and bads

btw, for anyone who wants to complain gettin beaten by big expensive cars,
why cant u just relax!
its normal for most cars getting smoked
many cars that cost more than 70k can beat us
i mean..... is anyone of u gonna complain when u get beat by a bentley? well, the new ones and the future ones can go REALLY fast u know, even though they are REALLY heavy
even that limo-like maybach, its owner can sit in that huge reclining backseat and still be able to smoke ya (0-60 in 5.7sec or something),
in that case, u lost to a guy who doesnt even drive, are u gonna complain that to us in the future?

Hank Hill? what's that?

I guess compared to Boston, anything's South...I'm from the midwest, Kansas City...on the Kansas side...Overland Park to be exact.

I went to Boston a few years ago...April 1999, watched a RedSox game and a Celtics game...went to all the "History" tourist attractions too...

great city...

I don't say "yup" in real conversation, just using it on the internet.

true true...

a friend of mine just got a X5 4.4L V8 4 ton BOX on wheels...paid 60K+ for the thing...

So why is he alway trying to compare it to my max...or even a honda cr-v for that matter...both cars cost less than half of what he paid???...

I have try to put my max against his, but I'm sure my 0-60 is better...but is 60-120 will blow me away!!!...

BUT YOU STILL PAID TWO TIMES AS MUCH!!! YOU BETTER BE FASTER!!!

I'm surprised everyone here thinks that the SC430 is an ugly car...

I personally think it's one of the best looking 2 doors out there right now.

my fav 5, 2door cars:
1. 350Z the upcoming Z coupe will take this spot =) looks sweet also
2. G35 coupe
3. SC430
4. Silvia
5. Eclipse

go ahead flame me, but the point is SC430s look sweet, and the acceleration is too. Although I'm not too happy about it's interior, I hate wood trims. Also the price is not pleazing either, it is like $100,000 with everything + taxes and **** in Canada. I can buy like 2 350z's for that price!!
