Advice on this Car

I'm looking at a 2000 SE 5-speed with 39K miles for 14,995. It has Bose and a sunroof. The only thing that bothers me about this car is the color. It is that light sky blue color. When I first saw it I said no way, but I think the color is starting to grow on me. I'm trying to picture the car with tinted windows and front clears. I think it will look better then. Any opinions on the car and on the color?

I would say that this is a very good price for the car given its low mileage and options. Not sure what color "light sky blue" is, but once you post a pic, I'll chime in again.

The Color is Satin Blue Pearl for a 2K

The color is Satin Blue pearl.... it was a 2k only color. Her SE is that color and I love it when it is cleaned up! (at first I was not sure if I liked it but we get so many compliments on how it looks when it is cleaned up.... 2 things I did that improved the way the car looks are

1. Installed a pair of 2k2/2k3 Tails which was her idea!

2. Installed front and rear clear corners (my idea )

Car looks sweet! No pics of the new corners but I have pics at home of the car with old and new tails. Wanna see 'em? Email me if you like: tborkosky@att.net

Does it have the 17" on it? Ours does......

L8r,
Trav

I don't see too may of those Tungsten/Satin Blue Pearl Max's around, and with the 5-speed, it probably is even more rare. I'd say, take it for a test drive, and if you like it, bring it to a mechanic to have inspected. If everything's good, then go for it!

Good Luck!

There are 4 running around Cowlumbus that I know of...... 2 are SE's with the 17's on them. The other ones are a GXE and a GLE. Don't know if they are 5 spds or not. The first 5th gen I drove was a 2k SE 5 spd with the 16" wheels...... nice ride. From what the dealers in the area have told me that they received a total of 6 or 7 in the 2k model year. REAL unusual color...

Like I mentioned earlier, when I first saw it I was like "No way am I driving around in that color." After a while it started to grow on me. I was just curious how the other Maxima owners felt about the color. I guess what I'm asking is "Would you buy it if you were in the market and this is what you found?" I know I'm being dumb since I'd be the one buying it and driving it, but I still value the opinions on this board.

Thanks.

No. Sorry just my opinion. I have only seen one Max like that and I thought the color was hideous. The 2k2 Tungsten is a different story. I like all the other colors for the 2k and 2k1 except that blue.

Is the car you're looking to purchase is from a private owner/dealer?
FYI: Be careful w/used rental Maxima.

sounds like a good buy, like he said.. personally I wouldn't buy the light blue. If you have any reservations about that, I would hold out til you definetely find one you like. good luck!

Thanks

Thanks for all the advice/opinions that were given. I went back to the dealership yesterday after work and he gave me a deal I couldn't refuse.....$13,600. NADA Retail for the car is $19,175. I felt like I couldn't pass up this deal. So, I'm now a member of the 5th generation club. Now, I'll go have the windows tinted (probably 20% all around. Debating on Platinum tint. I think Jet Black will look the best) and add clears. I'm also debating on whether to put clears on the front only or if I should put them on the front and back. Any advice?

Also, I know when I was looking into getting clears for my 97, there were at least 2 different kinds to buy. Diamond clears and regular. Are there different types availble for the 2K or all clears the same (i.e. Whether I buy them from Courtesy or on Ebay they should look the same)?

Thanks guys.

FWIW... I installed front and rear clears on her car and I think it looks much cleaner. (yes the current red 194 bulbs look kinda pink and I will replace them with LEDs in the future but I am OK with it as is.) I bought the clears from www.custommaxima and I am happy with them. If you do get clears get some clear sil caulk and seal the seam up around the edges. NO problems yet and we have had awful weather this winter in Ohio.

I could snap pics later if you like. If interested drop me a line

Oh yeah, the color is great and unique in the Maxima world! Not like black or silver......
