Got to drive a J-spec Skyline, (OT) Pics

To make a long story short, I have a friend of a friend that works at Nissan's proving grounds, and he had a 2001 Skyline for the weekend. I asked if I could take it around the block and he obliged. It may have not been the fastest car I have ever driven, but it was still bada$$!! I will never forget this day. Pics are on my homepage, pg-5. They are too big to load on here. Enjoy!!

You lucky SOB.

I'm green with envy. Either that or I'm just sick that you got to drive a skyline and I didn't.

If your friend ever lets you drive it again, whip it over to mass. I'm sure it won't take more than an afternoon round trip in that car!

I'll keep that in mind. But seriously, he had one once before I knew him, and I said, if you ever get one again, call me. I never thought he would, until I recieved the call today, I was speechless st first.

Damn you Dave.

The Perfect Car: That skyline, with the exhaust note of your Mustang, with a twin turbo version of the VQ.

What are the specs on that GT-S?(engine, 0-60, 1/4th, ect.) Still must be pretty fast.

Doesnt that feel weird though, driving a car with the seat on th wrong side. The first time I did it, it took me a few min to get adjusted to it but its still didnt feel right. Btw the GTR has a LCD monitor in the top of the dash were those guages are. Does that skyline have the RB26DETT motor in it, or is it a non-turbo version?
Still a sweet ride, ur lucky.

I think the GT-S has the RB25DET and is RWD.

The Skyline has an RB motor, not VQ.

This one was a 2.5 Neo-6 turbo. And it was all wheel drive. But it had a non defeatable traction control I rolled into the boost in first gear, and the car squated and I could hear the front tires chirping, that was cool. This one I drove had a Greddy boost controller on it, and a cat back, and some kind of intake. It would bury the stock boost gauge halfway through the powerband, and the stock gauge went to 1bar, or 14 psi. It was prolly making somewhere in the neiborhood of 20psi, the guy that borrowed it from nissan said it made 315awhp on the dyno that week with the mods.

Was that a US-Spec speedo I saw? 180? That's got to be MPH.

Anyway, sweet ride. You are one lucky guy.

I'm pretty sure it was Kilometers, I hit about 160 in 3rd gear, that couldn't have been MPH I think the Japanese speedo's are conservative, the Nissan guy said they had a GTR that had a limiter at 115, I'm sure this one did to, but I didn't wring her out that far.

My Mustang, and I have built/driven a couple of 10 second mustangs too.

The Skyline was quick, but it might have run low 13's high 12's from what I could gather.

No, a friend that works at Nissan's proving grounds drove it home for the weekend, and swung it by my house.
