There is probably a light built into the switch. I have the same deal with one of my switches on my heated seats. If it still works, don't worry about it. It's prabably a $40 switch.

Try unhooking your battery, stepping on the brakes for 10 seconds or so, and then hook the battery back up ,and try it. It sounds stupid, but that's how I fixed my sunroof problem that the dealer wanted $300.00 to fix.

How did you decide to do that to fix your sunroof?

It was mentioned here on the org. If I could do a search, I'd give credit where credit is due.

The lady I bought the car from took it in, and they gave her an estimate to fix the sunroof. I bought the car, took it in twice, and they gave me the same $300 estimate.

I did a search on maxima sunroofs, (led me here) and within 10 minutes, it was like new.

It was like rebooting a computer. Strange, huh?

That's unbelievable... if only things were always this easy to fix.

I had what sounds like it might be a similar problem.

One night I was driving with c/c on... the "set" light blinked a couple of times and the c/c disengaged.

Over the next few weeks the way the problem manifested is that if I set c/c, it would work for a while... between 10 min and 1 hr... and then disengage. Once it disengaged, it would not work again until the car sat overnight. (but I didn't try any measures like disconnecting the battery.)

At first the dealer couldn't reproduce it. No component failure showed up on their diagnostic check. I took it back a couple of times and eventually the dealer admitted they could see it quitting too... but without a diagnostic code they refused to do anything about it. (At least they admitted they saw it quit, I guess they could have lied to me and hoped I would go away.) I was getting and composing an ugly letter to Nissan.

Before I got that written, the service engine light came on and I figured it was worth one more trip to the dealer. This time they could read a component failure code.

They wound up replacing a speed transducer *and* the instrument cluster. Fortunately this was all under warranty since I suspect if I had to pay for it, it would have been well over $1000.

This all happened around October/November last winter. It has been OK since then.

One big difference between my problem and yours, though... I have a 2k3. With the DBW throttle I am sure the cruise control system has changed significantly. (there is no vacuum actuator the c/c uses to open the throttle; it's done electronically through the same servo that the gas pedal is linked to.) Possibly the speed-sensing part of the system (what apparently failed on mine) could be the same though.

good luck
