Put 87 Octane By Mistake

Today I put 87 octane in my 01 SE by mistake, I had already put in like 10 gallons when I realized my mistake. I have driven 200 miles since the fillup(all highway) and I have not noticed any problems. Hopefully I did not cause any long term problems. Anyone else experience problems when using 87 octane?

u can drain it out with a hose and use it on the lawnmower.

it's ok. no worries. easy on the pedal and let go off it when you hear funny noise from the engine.

if you really want to make sure, check your spark plugs. they will tell you a lot of things.

Fuggedaboudit . . .

Get yourself a bottle of Chevron Techron Concentrate, put it in your gas tank, fill up with Premium, and let your tank run dry. Then fill it up with Premium as usual.

Keep in mind that when you test drove the car, it probably had 87 in it as well. It's really not a big deal at all.

It's not a biggie. The ECU will just pull timing if it senses any knock, which would happen only when you get heavy on the throttle. The biggest problem there is a perfromance hit. Once in a blue moon is not a big deal.

My car was pinging like a **** when I got it from the dealer. First thing I did was go to the gas station, get some octane booster, and top off the tank with 93. Took care of it w/i a few miles.

On some cars knocking is harder to hear than others. It can put a lot of wear on the engine that won't show up until later down the road.

I plan on keeping my car for a long while, so I personally don't like to take any chances.
