Spring/strut install ???
Spring/strut install ???
Every direction I read says to take strut mount off. My co-worker has done this on his Mustang and tells me that he put this car on jack stands, put another jack under the strut assembly, unscrewed the top bolt and slowly lowered a jack. He said he had to put a chain around springs for safety. He just reversed the process for installation. If this is the way, then rear strut install will be much easier too. Please let me know what you think, because my co-worker and I will try to install springs/struts this weekend. Also, sorry for bad English.
Thanks
Nik

don't use a spring compressor..
inside, flip the wheel around so the inside of the wheel is facing you.. now cover it with a thick blanket..
now point the top of the shock tower at yourself so you can see and the butt of the shock tower at your blanket over the wheel..
now unscrew the main bolt and when it gets off, the spring will uncompress quickly and shoot the bottom half of the shock tower into the blanket.. just make sure you hold the top in place or it will shoot towards you..
NOW.. to define "shoot" -- guys, you really don't understand how safe this is until you do it... the spring isn't all that compressed and it will only move the shock tower like 1 foot, so think about what kind of power is needed to move it one foot -- NOT MUCH...
so don't worry
but if you **** up or hurt yourself, I take no responsibility..
