Tranny is DYING!!! What to do? 5spd swap?!

Last night I was comming home when i realized something was wrong with my auto trans. In 1st gear, at like 1/4 throttle, it will just keep going up to redline and bounce off the limiter, or at best shift around 6 grand. If I go about half or more throttle in 1st or 2nd (especially downshifts) it will lurch to about 4 grand and then its like it hits the clutch and holds the gas, because it just goes to redline and hits the limiter but is not engaged.

So WTF? Has this happened to anyone before. I dont have a warrantee and I cant get it to nissan until monday anyway. This trans has had problems before (like tranny slipping at hight speeds and o/d light blinking). I dont have much faith in the nissan auto tranny so its either time for a 5spd swap or an auto rebuild. Any suggestions? I have a shop that can put in a 5spd for around $600 if I have the parts. What do i need (search is down) and how about how much will it cost? Is there a writeup similar to whats on hlh0501.com only for 5th gens?

Sorry for the long post, but search is down and i need to figure this out ASAP. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: btw my car is a 2000 gle with about 50k miles. I have an intake, midpipe, ypipe, testpipe, b pipe, and rsm. I have not done any of the trans TSBs. I'm thinking this might be my TCM messing up or something. I also thought i should mention that this happened after doing a very hard s-turn.

Pretty much the parts for the 4thgen and the same that you'd need for a 5thgen... When I blew my auto tranny I just got a whole front clip from a salvage yard. That's probably your best bet since the whole clip will have all the parts you'd need.. Go for it! You'll love the 5spd!

you'd be surprised how much the TSBs can help.. Mine was slipping like mad when I got the soleniods done.. no more slipping. (for now). it may be too late for yours tho.

btw, you still have the 5/60 powertrain warranty...

Typically front clips cost liek $1500 for the whole thing... I got mines a little cheaper..

It's gonna be hard to swap the ecu because of our stupid security chips in the key. If you wanna swap ecu you'll need to get a key cut from the other cars 5spd ecu and then you'rs will work.. Pain in the @ss.. So I just kept my auto. I know myself and Kevin Y2KevSe kept our auto ECU's. No problems whatsoever.

salvage yards are charging more recently for front clips bro..even for just the tranny, manual ecu, brake pedal, clutch pedal (all other parts can be gotten from nissan).. quotes like 1500

figure around 1800 for everything included though..without flywheel
my friends gotta stock flywheel lying around so i might just take that

If that is the case then go for it. I wouldn't think twice about it.
