^its arleady been stated in post 10 3 years ago that it keeps the tb from icing in the winter. and what was the point of bumping up this thread? no offense but im just curious as to why youd ask a question like this...

It's more difficult to plug a hose barbed end(in the case where you wouldn't need them at all, elminating them completely, as you said) than it is to 'splice' the 2 lines with a single straight through barb.

Do they make a Y-splitter with a valve built in? Thinking about the valve idea said before, could you put a y splitter valve on the inlet side, have one go to the tb and the other in a bypass route, on the outlet just a normal Y splitter. This way you could direct the flow through the TB or around with the flip of the valve.

No Y here, if anything it's shaped like an "I".
Ok, have the option for a y and have coolant feeding through whenever you want ...
Making something this simple more involved than it has to be.
If mine hasn't frozen, your wont.

It reaches oeprating temp @ ~ 160*F, (that's operating temp for the ECU, and also when the the needle stops 'moving'). And does not move until it's 10-15+*F above 200*F. So take what that needle gives you with 2 grains of salt.

Can't recall at the moment, it's been months, I bought the wrong size at first, but hell, @ 68 cents per, oh well. Why not measure them prior to installing/buying, that's what i did after I bought the wrong stuff.

I was looking under my hood today at the tb and I can see where the hose is coming from the block and going into the tb but to me it looks like the line coming out is going into the EGR valve is this true or does this unit that I am seeing just look like an EGR valve?
