Which after market bulb is better

Which is the best aftermarket bulb for the 00-01 max for the "HID" look.
Polarg, Piaa xtreme(15260) or Sylvania "Silverstar"

I said "HID" look. In other words I want something that shines bright like the HID light that are on the 2k2-2k3 without actually being HID. Comprende (sic).

I just put in PIAA extreme whites and they look great. Very white light. Get the fogs too so they match. Pricey though.

I bought some random japanese blue headlight bulbs and they look great at night but my fogs and parking lights/turning signal lights still look kinda yellow. If I bought PIAA fogs and signals would they all match that bright white light???

Yeah i know what you mean. My fogs were on backorder for a week or so and I definitely noticed the difference in the color between the headlights and fogs. Now they match perfectly but I have all PIAA extreme. Hard to say if the PIAA fogs would match the other bulbs you have. I suppose anything would be an improvement. custommaxima has them.

i asked this same headlight question a few months ago when i was getting ready to do this.

everyone told me to go with the PIAAs. but, i didn't want to spend the $75 a bulb! so, i had also heard about Sylvania Silvertar. I picked two of them up from my local Advance Auto for $20 each. they were a breeze to install and look great. they are white (rather than the stock yellow or blue like some other upgraded bulbs are).

the PIAAs may be better for some reason...but i just didn't care to spend that much. its all a matter of personal taste...and how much $ you want to spend!

Well, I have had them both on my 2K. PIAA Xtreme Whites are well worth the $ if you find them for a good deal. Got my set for $45. In any event, the Piaa's are brighter and look better than the silverstars. However, for the $ the silverstars are very nice. If you want the look, go for the piaa... if almost as is good enough then get the silverstars and save some $

Try Sylvania Silverstars; you get brand recognition, quality, and reliability.

the offwhite looks makes the HID's look nicer.

If I bought one of the lights mentioned above, like the PIAA extremes or the Silverstar... Will my wiring harness handle the heat? I know some people had melting problems. Didn't know if I need a new wiring harness if I wanted to get the HID look? from my stock 2k. Also i was wondering what model PIAA to get. I see 9007 (or something similar) and also H4... what does this mean. I know I need to find the bulb that supports bright and normal lighting. Also Lookin for the fogs to match.

As long as you buy aftermarket bulbs that have the same wattage rating as the stock bulbs then you won't fry your stock harnesses. Using aftermarket bulbs with higher wattage ratings require upgraded wire harnesses or risk stock harness meltdown.

the 9003, 9004, 9007, h3, h4, etc, etc are the sizes of bulbs that fit each car. just go to a place like Advance Auto (or any other auto parts store). tell them your car make and model and they will know what size you need.

i just got my SilverStars from Advance Auto...i think they are 9007. not for sure though, i've got the pack in the car...i'll double check and let you know.

okay, so stupid question then. The PIAA extremes I put in are the H4 and H3. I think the box said it had the same wattage, but a lot of it was in japanese (or korean) and I don't have it in front of me right now. They're the same wattage as stock, right? I don't want a melt down.

piaa's bulbs are incredible - very good quality. i'm running plasma gt-x's as they're a higher K rating, more purplish-hid look. really like 'em.

I had PIAA Xtreme white H4's in my headlights and PIAA Xtreme White H3's in my fog lights...looked really good, but they seem to burn out pretty damn fast. Not really worth changing at all in my opinion, but if looks are what you're going for, PIAA looks great.

Really? I guess I had better save the boxes. Has anyone collected on the warranty? I wonder if they would try to claim you damaged the bulb during install. I was extremely careful not to touch the bulb surface to anything but one of them accidentally touched my greasy finger so I had to take it back out and clean it with alcohol and a qtip. I made sure there wasn't a spec of anything on it before it went back in.
