Strobes in HIDs? Anyone do this?

I want to put some strobes in my 2002 but am wary about drilling into the HIDs to install them. Has anyone with the 2k2 HIDs installed strobes in them? Where were they installed exactly in the housings & how hard was it? I just wanna guage how tough it'll be to do it.
TIA

I must be entirely clueless...What do you mean by strobes? I thought any sort of a strobing light on your car is illegal...

I had a pair of wheelen strobes in my 91 300ZX. 2 clear in the front and 2 clear in the reverse lights...Looked pretty tight. Don't put any of those cheap ones in that you can buy at pepboy's. Those i think take away from the car. I had mine put in and set up to my viper alarm so that when it went off the strobes would go off too. Just some added security. I wouldn't put any red or blue ones in, cops might bust your *****. Let me know how it turns out!

1)get the strobes from krazyd. whelen strobes and he's an authorized distributor. hooks us up LOVELY with prices. located in L.I. New York

2)do NOT drill into the 2k2 hid's, various reasons behind this. 2 main reasons. the strobe will nto work like on other cars because the COMPLETE housing is reflective, so the strobe bounces off everything, making it bright, with the 2k2 hid's, only the bulb area is reflective, so you're drilling into an area that does not have any reflective surrounding. it will also be very noticeable and look quite DISGUSTING. my suggestion, and a suggestion that the strobe/hid users have done, is remove the high beam and place the strobe in the high beam socket. clean look, stealth look, and the reflective area will enhance and multiply the strobe effect.

enjoy.

1) Thanks a lot PoLo. If you're looking for Whelen strobe kits, hop over to >> www.kdlighting.com >> I've been an Org member for almost 3 years and I've sold to a bunch of strobe kits to people on this site. I am an authorized dealer for Whelen, Nova and Federal Signal.

2) I also would not recommend drilling in the Maxima's HID housing. I always tell 2k2-2k3 owners that ask me about strobes in their headlights to replace their highbeams with the strobes. It's safer and PoLo is right about the reflector element and it not looking just as good.

If anyone has any questions feel free to email me. Thanks.

who would you rather helpout, a fellow .ORGer or some company. i'd rather help out krazyd, even if it was the exact same price. you never know when you need some help, assistance, or just a plain ol question, and he's gonna help you out w/out thinking twice.

that's right. ask anyone i've dealt with: araffio, igor, sadler, arnaud - i've always helped them out with wiring questions and if they ever had problems with anything.
