Seriously Unimpressed with my 2k3 Max today
on the way home I got behind a newer honda accord. He gunned it, I gunned it, and I could not pull on him going up a slight to moderate incline.
I looked up the specs and he has a 240 hp v6. He was alone and I had a full tank of gas and my wife with me, but still, I should have been able to gain on him.
I know in my gtp i would have floored it, dropped to 3rd, and pulled on him..
The car just had no ballz at 90 mph and I was seriously disappointed.

I know with MY wife in the car, I can't push my Max as hard as I'd like (in race circumstances), due to the grief that would follow. Could that be what really happened?
Seriously though, the 7G Accord V6 is nothing to sleep on.

well i happened to race the new v6 accord at the track not too long ago. I have an 02 GXE auto with a 25 dollar cone air filter from auto zone and he had an injen cold air intake and he was also auto. Well when we raced he brokeout, launched a bit early, and i easily caught up to him and passed him. I ran a 14.57 and he ran either a 15.2 or 15.3 I was pretty unimpressed by the performance of his car. I thought it would be a close race but it wasn't. DAMN hondas still can't give me any competiton. O well.

he was ahead of you the whole time- regardless if you have a six speed you should have shifted more aggressively-maybe your auto
GTP turned u lazy- your GTP would've been gaspin' for air at 90mph too- I had one so I can say it
A coupe is a good race, a sedan
should be no contest from a stop- put your war face on
and find another one to rebuild your confidence-

Here is a good example of what happened...
Your 4spd had you stuck in 3rd which goes from 80-130ish, but I'm betting his 5spd had him rapping out a much shorter 3rd which put him >5750rpms and thus more whp.
You shouldn't race into 3rd or past 80mph unless you plan on doing some SERIOUS triple digit speeds or you will get OWN3D by YOUR 4spd gearing.

I'm TOLD 2nd in the 4spd tops out at 80mph, but I don't think VQ35s should shift at redline for peak power. That's a better question for BabyBlu2K2 or some other 1/4-miler.

well i saw a 2003 accord coupe auto at the track, i only saw one run he ran a 15.6 at about 90 or so... i know they are faster than that, they arent slow i think there actually underrated alittle. the auto will do probably high 14s low 15s. and the 6spd will run mid 14s.. i would say it runs like the maxima 02,03,04 drivers race

A car can be VERY very fast in the 1/4 due to traction, lightweight, power band, gearing, but you get them out on the hwy as in this race and it can be a whole new ball game. WRX vs. Maxima is a good example. Another one would be my friends 350Z vs. the new EVO. No way in hell would he take one at the track, but on the hwy he has.

I dunno, at the track I still haven't been too impressed with them. I don't tend to street race, so I don't know what they could do in that situation, but in a controlled environment the best I ever saw out of a MT one was a 14.7 ish.

3rd gear (1.02) goes to about 102mph (redline)on the accord
3rd gear (1.00) goes to about 131mh (redline) on the Maxima
2nd gear will wind to 78mph with 16" rims, and I believe 80-82mph on 17" rims. If you want to get an Accord V6 on the highway, try to race him at 95+, when he can't downshift into 3rd and when your at the heart of your 3rd.
