I just raced a bmw M roadster

I've got a 2003 max with an injen intake and suspension mods. I pull up behind these two college kids in an M roadster. I drop down to second to show off the injen. He takes off and I keep up with him through the back roads. He then goes on the highway and I follow. There's a lot of traffic so I pull up next to him and get him to slow down to 20mph We wait for everyone ahead to get a good distance. I do a three second countdown with my fingers that he can see. Then we take off! At about 60 he starts inching in the lead. At 100 the traffic is approaching and his tail is at my front fender. The race was over he won, but I put up a fight. (Bimmers ain't got much on us maxes)

Uhhh... that car would own you, hands down. Do some research on it, it would out handle you, out perform you, and obviously the driver sucked. That M Roadster has alot more on our maximas then you think. Those m coupes and roadster are some great handling, high performance vehicles

I'm sure your injen didn't intimidate him so much. I am a proud owner of a 2k2 6 speed maxima, I love the car, it's a great car for the money. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can take any car on the road.

Heck, the 2001 and 2002 M roadsters and coupes have a 315 HP engine and are freaking rockets. I believe those have virtually the same engine present in the e46 M3.

Might have had a chance with the 240 HP version, but as light as those things are, I doubt it.

I own a 2002 Maxima SE and a 1998 BMW M3 coupe.

I can tell you for sure that my M3 would own my Maxima any day.

I am also pretty sure that an M Roadster is even faster than the M3 coupe.

Are you sure it was an M Roadster you raced or a lower model Z3 Roadster?

The M Roadster is even faster than the E-36 M3 I have.
Are you sure that you didn't race a Z3 instead of an M Roadster?

Are you sure you didn't race a Z3 instead because the M Roadster would own you with no problem.

The posts were not showing up for me so I didn't think they went through.

Prior to the latest Generation M's, the 240 hp ones aint **** anymore. My neighbor has a 98 m3 with intake and software. He runs 14.0@98 mph. That isnt too far away from a stock, let alone modd'd Maxipad. The 240 hp M's are 14 second cars with ease. They really are not that light either. All IMO I guess. I fear no M3 that's stock, unless it's an '02 like my girls.

I've raced 2 M Roadsters on the highway from a 70mph roll in my Mustang. They both put about a car length on me initially but after that I stayed right there with them, and one went up to about 150mph.

jtkz13......in your sig it shows you have a 94 Mustang GT 5 speed that you ran a 14.2. Was that a run with the mods you have listed in your sig? (gears, drag radials, pulleys...)
I thought a 5spd 94 GT ran mid-low 14's stock?

Nah, 5 speed 94GT's run high 14's stock. I never ran it stock because I bought it used. I am hoping for high 13's next trip to the drag strip though. If I ever stop being a wuss and get real slicks, with a 98mph trap speed I might be able to get some 13.7-13.8's.

94/95 GT's are actually quite slow stock, low 15's high 14's at best. But with a few mods, they run quite well. They had a horrible ECM for those years. They pulled timing every time you shifted, and over 90mph. A custom tune fixes those problems, and they run quite well. I had a 95 GT with 4.10's, h-pipe- pullies, and Dynomax's with a 89-93 ECM kit that ran 13.2@103 on slicks.

I have an autologic chip that removed the timing retard. Next in line is longtubes/prochamber and a set of slicks.
