I am so stupid

Driving down RT3 doing 80'ish in Mass on my way to the beach I see a state trooper with the radar gun pointed at me. The trooper had me nailed and pulled me over. I wait with my hands on the stearing wheel and made no movements until the officer approached my door. I rolled down my window and the Officer said with a deep voice, "License and registration". I said "Yes sir, my registration is in the glovebox." I handed it to the officer and finally noticed the the Sir was actually a Mam. She looked ****ed at me because I said sir. She gave me a hard time because my car is registered in Mass but I have a NJ drivers license (I'm in the military so it's OK). When she asked me why I was going 82mph in a 60mph zone I said, "I'm pretty sure whatever I say won't help since I called you sir huh." She said, "No, not likely."
I usually get away with speeding but this time I really put my foot in my mouth calling her a sir. Oh well, first ticket in ten years.

She shoulda cut you a break for being Military. But then again, 80 is a bit up there. My last ticket was for 76 but that was pure luck because I was slowing down from 110 at the time (my 95 talon TSi). I felt so guilty for messing around like that I figured I got what I deserved, I could have orphaned my daughter or worse, someone else's. I guess you start to think like that when you have kids.

love your last comment "I'm pretty sure whatever I say won't help since I called you sir huh." She said, "No, not likely."

too funny... sux bout gettin a ticket, but 82 is kinda quick. military tho shoulda cut ya some slack i'd think. trooper isnt fightin the middle east, he/she (which one?) is just givin tickets to those who are.

blah, 82 is crusing speed!

If they see you accelerating quck thats a different story, I blow by cops at 80 even with cruise control all the time.

Unless the cop was dying to pull you over, or your car looked like a kids car I think you can get away with doing 80 on highways around here (LIE, Northern State) NP.

Anyways even if she was female robocop, I think she was being way hard on you, (in the military or not) and all (and were not going 'THAT' fast, IMO). They say no one is above the law, but use what you have. Why not mention your in the military. A little pursasion, pity, and relation will get you everywhere. Explain to her how hard you work, this is atypical of you, your a good guy you are blah blah.
Ironic though.

Anyways no biggy, could be worse... Sorry for your troubles.

Back in the day when my dad went for his 1st road test, he accidentally called the tester "sir" when she was really a black woman with very short hair. She yelled at him and said "DON'T CALL ME SIR!!" This all happened even before he pulled out.

Needless to say, that comment pretty much failed his test.

In many states a simple radar readout will not stand in court--visual conformation of speed by tracking or comparing to other traffic is required. I'd go to court... maybe the policeperson will be a no-show and you will be excused. It could happen.

I always keep my driver's license UNDERNEATH my military ID... so they have to see my military ID BEFORE I get to my license.

Works like a charm.

I got the impression he said "sir" out of habit/naturally assumed it would be a male officer pulling him over. I doubt she was hot also but had to ask.

Lesson to be learned - address any cops that pull you over as "officer" or "pig"

I think addressing them as "officer" is condescending.

Just say "yes" or "no" distinctly. Saying "yeah" or "nah", etc. isn't 'appropriate'.

Also... a smile helps tremendously!

No, she was far from hot..

She wasn't hot and had a manly voice. If however she gave me the choice to "work my way out of the ticket", I would have to take one for the team . You know, to save on the insurance premium.

Oh, man...I had a friend that was selling his integra a few months ago. Anyway, it was hit in the parking lot and the person didn't leave a note. We called the police to send out a cop to do a report. Well, when the cop pulled up, we were so shocked. It was this HOT blonde chick, about 5'8", short hair...We were both floored. Seeing a hottie like that with a set of handcuffs on her side brought all kinds of fun thoughts to my mind. LOL. That was nice.

Do you spend that much time here on this forum that I have to explain everything in detail w/o it being misinterpreted??

And besides, it was "yo-mama" that yelled at him.
