G'day I was wondering if some one might have a picture of the front end of there Maxima with Yellow bulbs in fog light positions, you know the Lexus look?

I am looking at doing this but would like to see how it looks before I try it,

Actually, you won't get that full yellow look like the Lexus with just the bulb alone. The full yellow look comes from the lens being yellow, or the lens making the output of the light shine amber/yellow. Believe me, I tried yellow H3 bulbs in my fogs and they only give off a "yellowish tint" because of our lens being clear.

Do what, umm.. Polo (?) did. He put yellow film on the outside of the foglight housing. Looks good to me.

Cool...let me know how it works. I've changed headlight bulbs more than my oil! My fog bulbs have outlasted everything else *knocking on wood*. I love 'em.

Yeah. Remember you had them when you came to ravce down here to SD back in 2k2 ! Ive burnt out one set of Piaa super plasmas , and went with Ions , and love them. I really want that IS look, and this might just do it !

the reason that they put hte yellow fogs in isnt for looks. It is proven fact that yellow foglights provide the best illumuination in inclement weather along with making you more visible to oncoming traffic.

Yellow tends to cut through fog and rain a little better, but I think amber is the best overall...(but not entirely legal)

i purchased the ionic blue film from laminix and after a month the film has burn marks on it and it looks ****y(I have piaa extreme whites for fogs) I'm gonna remove it
the lens gets too hot, thats why they crack often

I might be possible but it wouldn't be a clean job. You would have to precut the film so that it fits into the housing on the fog light then you have to trim it. I think that would be more of a pain then taking out the fogs.
Here are some instructions on how to take them out.

One 7"x8" is NOT enough for 2 fogs you would need to order the medium kit for $19.95 which comes with 2 7"x8" pieces.

I put the yellow ones on my Max today. I am kind of disappointed with the output. They don't look that yellow to me. It might be that I have the PIAA Xtreme White fogs and they are more whitish/blue with no yellow. I'm going to try my stock bulbs next. If that doesn't work. I'm thinking that the PIAA ions might do the trick.

the best way for this to work is to use STOCK bulbs and the yellow film
if you use aftermarket bulbs (xx-watts=xx-watts) even though ti's using 55watts of energy, it is producing 85 watts of light AND heat. are you burn holes throughout the film or DEAD in the middle. dead in the middle is where most of the 85 watts is because all that xx=xx is, is most of the light concentrates on a central point, which then tends to get too hot, and you get burn marks.

use oem bulbs, it will be the most yellow and give you the best look.

i upgraded to 85watt narva golds, and i too burned my film. i'm too lazy to get new film, and these narva golds are yellow "enough" but not as yellow as when i had the film. i plan to go back to the film soon.

It's really not that bad. I've done it so many times it literally takes me like 2 minutes.

In fact I just swapped out my Xtreme Whites for the stock bulbs today. I notice a big difference, now they look more like yellow fogs.

Wow.. that looks way better on the right. Just talked to my dad, and he loves the look - thinks its original on the Max (he knows about the HID fogs matching the HID lights). He brought up an interesting question regarding aiming of the fogs after you have taken them out the put them back in - is it necessary to aim them like you would aim your headlights? Also, when applying the film, do you need to be VERY careful as to not form any bubbles/scrunched up film marks on the lens? Thanks.

There's no aiming involved, the H3 bulb has 2 slots on the rim that fit right into place in the housing.

As far as bubbles, you would apply it as you would window tint. Spray a little soapy water or even 50/50 mix of Water and Alcohol (Dries Faster) on the lense then put into place. You can then use a squegee(better) or you fingers to take the water out. It takes some time for the edges to dry out and stick but you can use a hairdryer to speed up the process. Once it dries you can then trim it with scissors or a razor blade.

It was pretty easy but I did have the previous experience of putting on the 3M bra on my MAX.

Yes, the one on the right is definitely more yellow.

Am I the only one that believes that improving your nighttime vision is more important than what the lights look like from outside the car?

Having said this, how does it actually perform? Does it light up the road ahead of you more or less?

if you do not want to deal with the Yellow film the PIAA yellow ions really do work great, I was suprized at the output of these and you don't have to worry about buring a hole in the film

I am in total agreement. My ions light up things farther down the road than my low beams!! One thing I noticed is that I have to be careful not to aim them very high or I tend to get flashed a lot. They are very powerful and the yellow light on the road ahead mixed with the white from the headlights is very illuminating.
