I know it takes ~2-3wks. to get the ECU back from Techtom, however they get the code back much sooner. They can copy the code to ANY compatible ECU and start tuning.

Apparently, they are expecting to have to re-build the maps for it to take that long. I wasn't expecting them to need to do that, that's why I was surprised.

The auto vs. manual maps should be similar and shouldn't take all that long now that they know what needs to be changed.

The ECUs are very different. The auto ones have a hard rev limiter whereas the manual ones do not. Also, the manual ones dont have to contend with that pesky TCM and its evildoing.

They should have my ECU back very soon, he will let me know later today, I will post whats up then...

The maps are going to be similar...now that they know where they are kept for the manual and what they look like, it will be much faster to locate/tweak/test.

That's how they cranked out the 6spd ECU, so close to the 350Z ECU being available. Chestons' ECU took SEVERAL months to decipher/modify/test, but they had the Maxima 6spd out in a couple weeks?

Anways, if it's close to 1-month then it's similar, if it's not, something else is going on.

I just sold 900 shares of stock today to replace the floors in my house. I "managed" to sell a few extra so I'll have the cash for the two mods I want

I'm getting the money in a week. I'm going on a trip dec 8-12. I just need to figure out how to work the send/receive so the wifey doesn't figure it out

deep breaths, Ice...

if nobody has done it by then, I'll have it installed by the end of the weekend of dec 13/14.

You are one of FEW people I'd trust only an AFTER 1/4-mile time from to judge whether there were gains or not.

They are using the bosch dyno because its more precise for tuning. I did a "pre-op" dyno before i sent the ECU in on a dynojet. I will do a "post-op" when i get the ECU and put it back in the car. I hope to see some significant gains....

By the way, I just got my junkyard ECU yesterday so TS can "clone" my current one onto it and then reprogram mine for performance purposees...

It cost me $150 shipped to my door...

Have you submitted the BEFORE dyno to the Dyno Forum yet?

so we get dyno results today (thursday)? Very exciting - just was looking at the technosquare website again and if everything they say is true, then there should really be some major gains by getting this ECU. sounds like the ECU will make us run like a 350Z engine... if thats the case, I know what i'm buying in a few months! Thanks to all who helped make this happen (and especially thanks if it proves to have some nice gains!!)

good luck hopefully everything works as planned. I myself need to talk to techno square about timing issues I might run into in the near future with my upcoming projects.

Just use the crank from the 3.0VQ in your 3.5 and lower your compression. Then you shouldn't have timing issues.

Or build your engine correctly and use lower CR pistons coupled with a massaged and ported combustion chamber...

UPDATE:

E55AMG2 has received his ECU back. We've installed it back in the car and took it for a run. THIS THING IS FOR REAL. We video-taped the 7100+ RPM limit, but the cable that uploads it from the camera is back at his school in Miami. We will upload it by Monday or Tuesday of this coming week.

As far as the difference, it's there!!!! There is no hesitation when you hit the gas. If you are under WOT, the car won't shift until after 7100 RPMs. I think the actual limit is around 7300, but it's too hard to tell. I will be logging the RPMs with my laptop and his E-Manage in the next day or so. When I have the results, I'll post them online as well.

As far as a dyno, the shop is having a dyno day for muscle cars this weekend, so it'll have to wait another week before they can dyno him. He'll be back in Orlando before Thanksgiving, so we'll get him in then.

More to follow in the next few days...
