Just dropped 23 lbs with a light weight battery.
I just installed this Odyssey PC 680 battery without metal shield. It weighed about 13 lbs. I secured it with an aluminum hold down that weighed less than a pound. The stock battery weighed about 37 lbs.

My brother has been running this battery in his PT Cruiser with a custom turbo setup for the past few months and has had no problems. He lives in AZ and has the AC on full blast all the time.

Nice job 03BLKSETE!
Ive been wanting to put an Odyssey in my max for a while now. I was going to go with the 925MJT because I was concerned about having enough cold cranking amps (only a 13lb drop from stock with the 925).
I've had a Odyssey 680 in my BMW cycle for 5 years now and it is fantastic. But the Beemer 2 cyl is a third the size of the 3.5.
Could you please bring up the topic again in a couple of weeks so we know how you are doing? I think weight drops are some of the best mod's one can do
Thanks

I have a pc680 (not on my Max though), and other than cost, I do not know of any reason not to get one of these batteries (except for large stereo), especially if your old battery is toast.
Less weight + More HP = Faster & Better handling car.

Just my $.02. The Max being front wheel drive, I would keep the battery under the hood (keeping the weight over the front wheels). On a rear wheel drive car the trunk is the way to go.
Also a lower CC amp battery does not need the extra resistance of powering through 8 feet of extra cable.

The battery is mounted in the engine compartment, on the stock battery tray.

Then you just got to close off a cone filter, so you get the "ram" effect.![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

The battery is working fine except for one mishap. I was washing and waxing the car last weekend and left the radio on for the entire 2.5 hrs. I don't know if it made it worse or not but my daughter got in the car and turned the key one more postion forward than it should have been and was also playing with the power seats. At the end of the 2.5 hrs all the electrical accessories worked but the car wouldn't start.
I hooked up the original battery to start it up and drove it around for a few minutes and all was well.
I might hook up with juice this weeked or Ange next week. Maybe one of them could help me out with the pics.

That's cheaper, if not free.
Just relocate the battery to the trunk and make yourself a 'ram-air' box.![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Hey 03BLKSETE is that box the one you can buy from Odyssey dealers? Are there any hold downs for keeping the battery from sliding out the front? I thought the box was blue or silver?
You did a beautiful installation.
How is is starting on thoses getting colder East Coast nights?
Thanks in advance

The box is the one that I linked in the first post. It has a small lip that you can't see that keep the batter from moving fowards. So far the only problem was the one I listed a couple of posts up.

The battery is still working great, although we haven't had freezing temps yet. I bought it from the site that I linked in the first post. You have to call to get pricing. I'm trying to remember how much it cost. I think it was like $120 shipped for both the battery and hold down. I got the battery without the metal shield and with automotive terminals.

Here's the update after several days of cold weather and snow.
Last Friday it snowed in NY and my car remained buried in the snow until I dug it out on Sunday. After it was dug out, it started right up. Made several trips with the car on Sunday with no problems.
On Monday the car wouldn't start. All other electrical systems appeared to function properly. I suspect my wife left the door ajar overnight and killed the battery.
Jump started it on Monday and it's been working perfectly ever since.

I had forgotten about this thread.
I haven't had any problems with mine either. My car sat for 3 or 4 days with the temps in the low 30's/high 20's and it fired right up when I got in it.
I have since changed back to my normal battery due to the purchase of a large stereo. The car cranks a little quicker but, other than that, no difference from the Odessey. I'm gonna save the Odessey for race days.

Here is what I have been using for the last couple of years. It the battery out of one of those 400 amp starting gizmos. Remember I am a budget racer.
Only cost $40 and weighs 14 lbs. It about the same size as a motorcycle battery. I used the stock plastic cover off the batter and cut out styrofoam to hold the smaller battery and added posts to the top so it looks just like the stocker when install.
I like people to wonder why it goes so fast not to wonder why it looks fast.
